As a person who has never been to Townsville, wouldn't upgrading Dairy Farmers be the best option for traffic/parking? Could be a little hectic inner city.

I can't see how the state government can say no to this proposal, considering they have said yes to a team that doesn't even exist in Central QLD.
Because you can promise what you want whilst a team doesnt exist, and gain good publicity for your govt, whereas when a team does exist you actually have to deliver?

Wollongong got upgraded because the old grandstand was 50+ years old and a safety risk. New capacity is 23K or so

Yes, its the right size you f**Ked up pommy twat.

You are an idiot, this post in not required.

They still haven't opened the top of the new stand yet. It should of been done by now to be honest.

Can the Dragons pulls in crowds of 23k? Only big games, on average list the Dragons crowds are one spot above the Titans crowds for this season.

Interesting bit on the Gold Coast news tonight about clive palmer wanting to build his own stadium because of the ridiculous stadium fees the government is charging the Gold Coast soccer team. Considering how much of a rip off it is to go to a Titans game it wouldn't hurt them to threaten to go play there too. Will be interesting if he is serious.

You can almost guarantee the costs will go down once the LNP wins the election early next year.

Palmer has very close ties with the QLD LNP.

Why should it have been done by now? The construction plan has said from day dot that only the lower tier would be open for 2011 with the second tier opening in 2012.

Not sure what this has to do with the Titans? Much more logical to compare Saints to Newcastle or Wests who have very similar averages.

If you look at the list of averages Saints are at 18k for this season and has included three actual or near sell outs at WIN Stadium (from four games). A club that averages 18k is and is selling out their home ground is usually the kind of club that is considered a prime candidate for a capacity increase.

when was the last time the Dragons sold out a game?

Every game this year, empty seats have been visible on TV.

I'm not saying the Dragons don't deserve an upgrade or an increase capacity btw, i think a lot of clubs do but doubt the Dragons will be able to go close to selling it every game when they haven't sold out a game when the going is good.

The Dragons have sold out 3 games this year, against Manly, Wests and Souths. Yes there were still empty seats, but the gates were closed and all tickets were sold.

A sellout does not necessarily mean the stadium is acting at absolute capacity.

Fair enough, that was my bad.

When was the last time the Dragons got a full house?

3 October 2010.

That was a Grand Final smart arse. Unlike other sports, our grand final is always at the same venue and no teams ever 'host' a Grand Final.

So when was the last time the Dragons got a full house in a game where it counts? you know a regular season game.

The first 2 games at Wollongong this year got 18,947 and 18,980 - must have been pretty close to the available capacity
