Why do you have Phil Spencer from location, location in your signature? Is it a male attraction thing?

I don't.

you can tell the people who don't rate gallop have no understanding or experience of business, on even the lowest of levels.

They let their personal opinion of the man and club allegiances dictate their assessment of his ability.

Gallop isn't infallible, but I don't see any superior alternatives right now

That's your myopic vision. If any CEO in any other business had done what Gallop has done in handling this whole saga of the Storm, last round of tv rights, etc...not to mention his completely gauche PR ability, they would have been long gone. A CEO's role of a national business (no matter what business it is) is about relationship building, mitigating risks, and growing the product. Which one of those 3 things has Gallop excelled in? Or even been adequate in? Much has been made in the latest report about growth in numbers participating in league, tv viewer percentages etc but I really question if this is because of Gallop's leadership or because it is would have happened anyway, under any CEO - the numbers aren't outstanding but more a steady increase. What the NRL needs is a charismatic and expert CEO that has business experience beyond that of a lawyer's. Ten years on under Gallop it would be really interesting to see a peer review of his performance from other CEO's of a comparable sized and niche business such as the NRL. Personally, after 10 years I think he would be seen to have made minimal progress due to his ability & acumen, if not having failed miserably.

Oh right, I see. So the positives of the game happened coincidentally, Gallop had no role in any of the growth or good things. But every con, every negative in the game, all Gallops doing. Nice reasoning you have there mate.

If you read my post I said it could've happened under any CEO (and possibly better) so where's your proof it was all down to Gallop? Has he ever been tested as to his effectiveness compared to anyone else in a similar situation? Ten years mate...that's a lifetime for a CEO. I'm not saying he has done nothing good but I am saying he's made a lot of mistakes in his handling of things (once again, my opinion) & the NRL has not put up anything to compare his performance with. The fact that he may go on to head the independant commission without evidence of an external performance review should be setting off alarm bells for everyone concerned. No CEO gets that kind of free run

Respect is earned, not claimed as a right. Gallop has done absolutely nothing to earn the respect of anyone who has any association with rugby league. The hardest part of his job was probably learning the rules of rugby league. I remember seeing him at Brookvale Hotel several years ago and he was sitting between 2 tvs. One was showing a Super 14 match and one was showing an NRL match between Melbourne and the Bulldogs, both were live. His eyes were fixed on the yawnion, he couldn't have cared less about the NRL match.

To me Gallop has about as much passion for Rugby League as Bob Brown has for uranium mining. Demetriou maybe an arrogant slime ball but atleast you can tell he's passionate and would bend over backwards for that game. Gallop does whatever his NEWS bosses tell him to do - make some lukewarm comments to the media and dont distract the masses from buying our papers.

Depends on his replacement. If the IC think they have someone that can do better (no doubt in my mind that they would) then remove him.

Gallop, former News lackey, in my opinion commited the biggest blunder of his tenure by signing away the television rights for much, much less than what they are worth in 2006. His old mates at News got a golden goose for next to nothing and the game has generated plenty of income for them via Foxtel subscriptions. I reckon he gave plenty of "consideration" to Channel Nine's "loyalty" and involvement with the game as well. They continue to treat the sport like shit.

This cannot happen again. They key term here is "independent". David Gallop has loyalty to News. If we want the independent commission to work there needs to be someone without old ties. Isn't that why have waited so long to get this off the ground, because there's too much conflict of interest and hesitation on behalf of all parties involved in getting the IC set up.

Find a proper sporting administrator, not a lawyer, to run the game. I would love to see the commission go on a fact finding mission to the US and come back armed with a short list of candidates who have been involved with the sporting leagues and their respective teams over there.

There is absolutely no doubt that the person who, by miles, is the best person to be the CEO of Rugby League is John Quayle.

The f*ckwits at News Ltd pissed him up against the wall.

The last thing we need is a friggin yank. Les, I dunno whether you remember the yanks and their think tank comittees that came in with Super League - and decided that clowns and fireworks were the way to go.

You may as well have a gorilla doing brain surgery.

Also on topic Gallop has been just awful.
We need someone who at least gives a shit.
Gallop is not that person. Anyone who thinks he isnt influenced by his New Ltd ties is a gulible moron.
