An interesting piece.
Lachlan Galvin is reportedly set to be axed by the
Wests Tigers for their Easter Monday clash against Parramatta.
The news reported first by
The Sydney Morning Herald, comes a day after the Tigers confirmed the teen star had rejected a new deal with the Concord club, which was said to be prepared to give him a five-year deal worth upwards of $5 million.
Galvin's impending departure - currently to happen after 2026 - has sparked internal unrest at the club, with reports senior players want the five-eighth to be replaced.
The Herald reports utility Adam Doueihi will wear Galvin's No.6 jersey against the Eels in the traditional clash at CommBank Stadium.
Just how long Galvin stays with the club is uncertain since he is expected to be left out of the team when it is released at 4pm on Tuesday.
4PM cannot come quick enough.
It is not known if Galvin will be asked to play in the NSW Cup this week or will be completely sidelined by the club.
It's understood Benji Marshall's close relationship with captain and new recruit Jarome Luai is said to be the catalyst behind Galvin's exit.
So the club signs a player who has won 4 GF's, played SOO, captains his country and that is the catalyst. The guy has some growing up to do.
According to the Herald, Galvin wanted more of a say in attack and didn't like giving up the reins to Luai in the halves.
As above, the guy has some growing up to do.
However, the publication states Galvin's lack of belief in Marshall as a coach is the major reason why he wants to leave.
Yet there seems to be plenty of backroom politics involved.
Galvin's manager Isaac Moses has been telling clubs Galvin won't be re-signing with the Tigers due to the coach for months.
Not a huge fan but now I really want Marshall to succeed.
Moses and Marshall reportedly don't see eye to eye.
Galvin supposedly believes Marshall's tendency to hire ex-teammates as assistant coaches shows the Tigers legend can only take him so far in his development.
This has been written on this site by many, but starting out, why wouldn't Marshall get help from guys his knows & guys he trusts in Farah, Heighno, Hodgson & Morris?
Marshall reportedly called Galvin into his office in the lead up to the Newcastle match last week as talk heated up about his future.
It's understood Galvin told his coach he didn't necessarily want to leave, but was keen to test the market.
The report claims Galvin is wary of Marshall's close relationship with Luai.
Grow up mate !! Luai and Galvin are civil but not close.
Galvin's resentment towards the Tigers outdates Marshall's arrival and reportedly stretches back to his junior days, where he was played in the back-row when he thought he was the best five-eighth rising through the ranks.
maybe there are good judges who just didn't rate him as a 6 or 7
