Hey, I love The Ron but I just think he is starting to overdo it just too munch. With the commentators continuously bagging on about it then it won't be long before the touchies and the imbecile whistle blowers will be onto him. They will get the call about him doing the mug lair thang.

Especially now we have 'persons' doing the Bunker.

Plus wingers shouldn't be the niggle unless they are good enough to throw a few combinations when needed ( old dinosaur theory). Blokes wrapped around by five other blockheaded big forwards is a different thing altogether.

We didn’t throw any thing tricky or fancy at them. Kept our powder dry and moves a secret. There is no way we have trained all off season to run that standard type of play.
They showed nothing to anyone.

Anyone notice Brailey ran a few more times than usual and was the first in for any niggle with a push or shove and head pat?
Agree. The attack showed smooth passing movements without anything too fancy. Players ran the right lines, the halves linked up well. Looked well drilled, fit and fast.

The yardage sets from our end were well executed with the centres and wingers running hard as usual.

The defence was solid. Held out the Dogs quite easily when the first grade squad was on apart from the flukey first try.

A couple of attention to detail issues that will be ironed out. Brailey kicking out on the full from the kick off. Poor execution when you have 70 metres to hit. Talakai protesting to the ref instead of playing to the whistle almost cost a try.

It’s all good quigsy. You don’t have to throw them these days.

Ronnies been like this from day 1. He’s not a grub so don’t expect to see him get penalised out of games, he just niggles and pisses off opposition Ennis style and I am aaaalllll about that. f**k the lot of them. Ronnie 4eva

Dale said Nicho has been working with Halligan in the off season to fine tune his goal kicking.

Considering the improvements he had middle of the year when he stopped using that coach in Melbourne via Zoom hopefully he'll be an 80% plus kicker this year.

Could be wrong, But I'm thinking Ronnie has had ample opportunity to go down the mug lair track but seems a lot more grounded, whilst also understanding sensitivities of less strong personalities and how to use that. I think Ennis the menace could be his best advisor.
Difference is Ronny’s not a f**kwit but just passionate. Will no doubt get targeted for a bit of niggle throughout the season because of it. Do like the big leaps and good hands for the cross field kicks from Nicho...can see plenty of spectacular tries coming his way this season.

Only issue with Ronny is he needs to get that leading with the head crap out of his game, very fine line with it being called a head butt if it goes wrong and costing us big time.

Can’t wait to see Stonestreet promoted to the top 30 squad from development player. He’s got something about him. Loved the confidence he played with yesterday.

And seriously no one gave a f**k about the “prize money”.

He's going to be too good to not give a starting spot too in the near future, I like Katoa but the money we save bringing Stonestreet through is smart cap management. Also offers a legit aerial target also which is nice.

I’m just happy to see the Game Day thread return in all its glory.
Missed the game so will have to watch a fox re-run - but great banter and thoughts all.
Finally, nothing like a game day thread where there is a Roboshark incident - welcome back man!

As former Bastardball player I pay attention to offloads, ball play, etc.. It seemed like lack of offloads was part of a game plan, I think coaching staff were looking at other areas ,for this trial and its not necessarily an indicator of what the players capabilities are in that regard, OR how the sharks will play in 2023. Might even indicate confidence in their capabilities there . Might call it preseason competition. but to any Team serious about 2023 its still a trial.
Is the Club that wealthy that $100G is less important than a trial 'game plan'??

Katoa has been a handy winger for the Club. But he isn’t a special talent like Ronaldo.
If he wants to sign on for what the Club is offering and know he will have competition for his wing spot fair enough.

But with talk that he’s looking for more money than the Club is offering then the Club should be telling him the Dolphins are looking for players.

We have to be like Penrith that when you see a younger player coming through your ranks that is more than likely going to be better than the incumbent at that position you make the smart decision and move the incumbent on.

With the likes of Sam Stonestreet and Kade Dykes coming through we are really going to have bite in attack in years to come.

Oregon is a significantly better player than Toby. Does a lot of unnoticed work. Quick ptb, good in contact, solid defender. No fuss player.

Toby has picked up where he left off.

Based on the back end of 2022 and WC form I think Hunt is our first choice starting prop.

BHU and Toby fighting out out for the other spot but I think by the end of the season OK could pass them both.

Toby had Pommeroy hands yesterday and really the ink he just needs to simplify his game in the same way Jack Williams did from his first season.

Roosters are also known for understanding when to release a player and bring someone up so no doubt Fitz has taken some learnings from that.

Besides no point being a development club if a player is blocked by an incumbent who is not an obvious decision why he's been kept vs the junior in waiting.

Important to send a message to juniors that there is a pathway here.

The disrespect on Katoa is ridiculous. Our two wingers as a pair are up there with the best in the game.

Sounds like Hunt has an elbow injury so might be out a bit ?

I like Uele's impact of the bench so wouldnt' be mad to see Oregon start with Toby

Hope we keep him but wouldn’t break the bank to do so. Like the look of the Iro’s and Stonestreets coming through so wouldn’t absolutely devastate me... more disappoint me.

Not sure there's any disrespect, certainly not for me, I rated him when he was making tackle breaks at will in Toyota cup, and I'd be very happy to keep him

BUT

He's not going to get the same money Ronnie gets, and if he's after that and the club doesn't want to budge then we have Stonestreet/Iro in the wings (see what I did there) who'll be cheaper and we wont lose too much.

Frees up that cash for other positions
