GAME DAY vs Rabbit Semi 2

Our problem is we don’t have a superstar to break open a game for us. We have an evenly matched squad but need a LM or a NC…. Nicho isn’t it.

I'd be transplanting the whole Flegg squad into the reggies and start looking from within. There are a lot of second stringers we don't need and there's little money to spend to buy any X Factor.

It’s absolutely reactionary Frenzy to the pain of our exit this year and I get it but the only one I am genuinely concerned with is Wade.

Look at the captains around the league and they all play major parts in making their teams better. Teddy, DCE, Murray, Cleary/Yeo…. Wades contract is up, and I think it should not be renewed for a year. Not because he can’t do it but because it’s a spot that should be filled by someone who would benefit from the time on the field in 2023 for a better 2024.

Exactly. And apart from Munster, there is no one.

Wade was an absolute gun at his peak. His peak was 5 years ago unfortunately

Also, throughout the day I highlighted deficiencies in BHU's defence. What is going on with him? Is he hurt. For mine he didn't put in again tonight. 35 minutes tonight in which time he only made 10 tackles and missed 5. 50% tackle efficiency does not make the grade for an NRL prop and supposed forward leader. Is he another who was playing busted? He didn't seem to have long away for a pec injury. Was he going under the radar when the side was winning?

Uele was pretty poor tonight. Brailey was almost non existent. We need more from him then just tackling. Kennedy… hope dykes has a big off season.

Why does Ramien continually make those lazy costly efforts? Is it a concentration thing? I’m sure that’s not the first time we’ve had a try called back for him being a metre offside when he didn’t need to be.

rudolf can make a mistake at the worst of times. Last week and again this week.

I have liked some of Wade’s defence this year, but I think I am starting to lean with the majority and it is time for him to either retire or head overseas.

Hynes was in panic mode tonight. Continually second guessing himself.

I'm not fussed if he stays or goes to be honest. There are positives or negatives. But my thread wasn't about captains. It's about leaders and we'll have very few as it is. Tolman gone, Fifita gone. Wade maybe gone. Finucane good for only so many games a year and the only forward signings are a 17 year old kid, Finau and Herb Oregano. At least there'll be Alfred E Neumann. The backs are ok for leaders BUT we lack X in the backs.

A team of thoroughbreds will likely beat a team of draft horses most times.

We really need Klem or Tapau to drop their asking prices.

Think a lot of stuff went under the radar when we were winning, most common post after a lot of games was along the lines of "well that was crap but take the 2 points and move on". Many things throughout the squad have been obvious for all to see and even the most negative pessimists such as myself don't wanna derail threads with criticism haha

BB needed to watch Cook. He killed us getting them momentum on every play.

It's hard for me to get excited by Brailey. I wasn't keen on him when Jayden left but then Blayke, at times, showed good signs but he's become just a worker bee. I do think he was disadvantaged by not having very good prop protection at times and he is definitely a spot player for the opposition forwards. Berrell really didn't put pressure on. I'm not sure why he was retained. Probably cheap

Just watched the Press Conference, Fitz was bitterly disappointed as excepted.

I would like to see Toby drop back into the Second Row where he played for Redcliffe - I’m not convinced he is a metre eater.

I would be very keen to see Briton Nikora in the No13 jersey next season as well.

With no disrespect, there is too much Newtown football being played and it is being exposed.

I love Nicho, but my goodness gracious me he has had an average season.

We lived in a false economy this season, we won some games that we could have easily lost.

I think we officially finish 5th which is really where I think we are at.

People need to relax and not overreact to these last losses.

The only areas the sharks really need improvement is props, and lock. Wade will be given another year, but he needs to have the tap on the shoulder that Fifita got.

I'm pretty confident Kennedy will be fine. I think it's unfair to judge him on the last two weeks when literally just came back from a pretty severe ankle injury. But I do like him having pressure from Dykes and Miller.

Wings are pretty locked with Ronnie and Katoa. Katoa was missed, especially when Ikuvalu couldn't stay healthy.

Ramien needs to take another step in 2023. It's frustrating because he has the tools, but his discipline is poor. Talakai did well in centre and could stay there, but I'm not sure that's the best position for him. Iro could step up in 2023.

Halves are fine - but I want to see more versatility in the kicking game. What was really exposed in the last two games was that the Sharks allow teams to go at their kickers with high pressure. The good teams put players between the markers and the kicker to give their playmakers time. The Sharks don't.

Nikora was great this season, and got even better at the end of the season. Really happy with his improvement. Teig was great to start the season, but I think coming off the bench didn't help him.

Brailey showed signs of improvement this season, and overall was good. But he needs to be able to contribute to games where he doesn't have quick PTBs to take advantage of. I kind of felt like the nerves may have got to him this game.

Rudolf is great, Hunt was solid, and Hamlin-Uele started strong but didn't seem the same after returning from injury. Sharks really need to add to the props in addition to Kaufusi.

I've seen Toby have some good games but they were against bum teams. I've never been his greatest fan but was pleased he improved his missed tackle rate at least this year for something.

That's a good thought about Nikora actually.

Thank phuque someone else is on board about Nicho

Nicho and Toby. Cool hair makes them stand out.

I get your point Fiz but for some games we won we would normally lose also, manly for example so for the free hits we also did some good too.

As for Nicho. Slow burn, first year at HB, placed a shit load of pressure on himself and needed this season to play out as it did. Will be better next year.

I was never a fan of jayden and thought blayke was terrible himself last year. Was hoping he'd be better without the likes of woods around him and whilst he wasn't terrible or anything this season i wonder if he's basically hit his ceiling as a solid at best first grader just like his brother. Reece Robson is now miles ahead of him in the rep stakes too.

Good washup. Don't agree with it all but do with most of it.
