Spot on, I wouldn't piss on that prick if he was on fire and I certainly won't read his f**king opinion on anything.

Newtown got booted and the game went on, North Sydney got booted and the game went on, just need another 4-5 to follow.
Apart from the drastic downturn in junior participation and support on the northern side of sydney of course
and the loss of the central coast to Soccer
And the breaking of thousands of hearts due to a completely and utterly f**ked handling of this by those merkins at the NRL
Yeah the game just went on with no casualty's.
Brisbane muppet.

As for Ribot, who cares what he thinks? He is an absolute muppet of the highest order. The type of person who i wouldnt mind seeing (well not actually seeing, more hearing about it) left alone in a dark room with Lockyno1. f**k Ribot

Don't get me wrong, I think North Sydney were great. they just had nothing to offer Rugby League and we're better off without them. The bus stopped, they were kicked off, the bus went on. No loss, no people in the streets or riots. Loss to rugby league, nil.

Well this is probably a troll but what the hell worth a reply

Nothing for rugby league??? Wow, you're a reasonably ignorant brisbane fan, but then many are.
Norths were one of the foundation members, on the other side of the bridge to the rest, Fighting hard for our place in the sporting landscape, until the harbour bridge opened and suddenly our working class area was replaced with union toffs. Still we fought on maintaining rugby leagues presence.
1947 and Manly came into the comp. North Sydney were very supportive of Manly's bid to enter the NSWRL, despite the effect it would have on us, because we put the game first. Sure enough Manly are entered and, sure enough, we lose half our team and many ressies to Manly due to the residential rule.
Fast forward 50 years and we stayed loyal to the ARL in the face of Ribot and co arse raping our game. With the 'criteria' coming along what do we decide to do? Help the game again by moving to the Central Coast, despite our 90 year history and being the only club to be at the one home ground for our existance. We are encouraged all the way by the NRL in this case, them ensuring us it would mean we miss the cull as we wont be a sydney club anymore.
We go ahead to do this, building a stadium in the process. It rains. Alot. (before not raining alot for 6 years).Things go wrong from here, as we have no home ground all of a sudden, no way of bringing in money and even when moving back to North Sydney we still get the rediculous fees from our dickhead council. Things crumble on the field and the rest is history.
So what does this brave sporting governing body in charge of the game, the NRL, do? Do they support us despite our debt (which could've been paid off reasonably quickly from the next season, infact is possible we had a bunch of money aside from the leagues club). No no no. Instead of pushing forward with having a side there they decide, in their infinite wisdom and utter rorting, to turn around, say the CC is not a country area (despite this being the whole reason we pushed so far ahead with moving) say we are a sydney club and kick us the f**k out. f**k them.

So no Rastus, we did nothing for the game did we. Never did a f**king thing you brisbane supporting Twat.

So, to sum up.

In 100 years, North Sydney had so little impact on the rugby league landscape that they were able to be given the arse from the competition despite it's heritage and no one really gave a f*ck.

Natural selection in action.

I just wish Souths would follow, they were wrong in letting them back in.

A comparison was made earlier with the A-league and I couldn’t agree more. Have a look at how many teams from inner Sydney and Melbourne were in the old NSL, and when the A-league model was proposed they all got up on their soap boxes and proclaimed that it was doomed. How many teams from Sydney and Melbourne are in the A-league? 2. Both getting good attendance numbers and TV ratings. The Rugby League community (particularly in Sydney) need to have a real good look at the direction the game is heading, and make some tough decisions regarding its future. I don’t think mergers will work. It needs to be a clean slate where a number of clubs are cut, and new teams created in their place. I'm not a big fan of the whole relocation thing either, clubs just end up taking old baggage with them, and ultimately it turns into a disaster. Case in point the Norths / manly merger and relocation. A new approach is what is needed, not rehashing of old ideas and thinking.

I know allot of people will disagree, but that’s just my opinion.

You know recently someone in here started a thread that suggested we keep our Sydney comp (much like they have in teh Qld comp) and have seperate National League. I didn't like that idea much at the time but I am warming to it. Maybe by geograpically determining regions in Sydney and having club groups act as feeder clubs to say three Sydney regional rep sides in the National comp we can keep our beloved clubs and keep the elite paid what they are worth if performing/playing in the representaive sides. I know I would still see my favourite players going around in my club side and also watch them step up to represent the region in Sydney I love as well. Perhaps for each players taken to the Rep side the clubs are fed back dollars from the National League. The NSWRL could still negotiate television rights with Free to Air and PayTv takes the National Comp.

Just a thought.

A-League was helped with World Cup mania.

9 teams with an average of 90,000 crowd is better than 5 teams with an average 75,000 crowd
