Game Plan vs. Dogs

Okay - just trying to mix it up a little bit...

'Bye week' feels like the off-season...

What game plan would you adopt if you were Coach for this week's game?

I'm thinking:

Canterbury's big strength is their big skilful forward pack... However, Kasiano seems to have dropped off a bit, Eastwood is injured, and 'Jane' who used to play for Manly is out of favour. James Graham is an absolute beast.

With that in mind, do we focus on (A) shoring up the middle in defence, kicking early to get their forwards back-peddling, and spreading the ball as much as possible in attack?

Or, (B) do we just play our normal game plan, which, I think, involves winning the ruck in attack and defence, good kicking game, and spreading it when we're close to the line?

Now that I've spat all that out, I'm thinking B - stick with what we have been doing best...

Thoughts?

With two genuine long kickers in Chad and BBQ we should Kick early from our own end and Keep pinning them down in their corners, let the massive merkins exhaust themselves trying to get out of there the whole 70 minutes. It would mean less work for Gal and Fifs too. Hows Wade's injury?

Their forward pack is big & skilful but is it fit & mobile.

We are relentless in the middle, in attack & defence, so I see no reason to change to much.

Tire them out & break the line with our inform backs.

There forward pack hit the wall at 60th minute against Raiders, given they are getting Klemmer & Jackson back.

Be interesting to see if ground is wet Monday night, ANZ seems hard to move ball around when wet

The fact that Prior might play would mean that Paulo would drop back makes no sense to me.. Ok we have been winning and maybe one game where having an outside back on the bench worked for us dew to injury.

But, big f**king forward pack here to my old school way of thinking means that you match them up the middle and have enough on the tag team to keep up when as the minutes tick along.

What would I know though.

Agreed Cools, If there was ever a game where we need four forwards on the bench its this game. playing against a huge forward pack and having our two best backing up from origin. We will need an extra big guy on the bench to share some of A.Fif and Gal's work.
I hope Taga is wearing his catchers mits on Mondy night. He is long overdew for a decent game.

Flanno is a stickler for stickling with the squad he names so I doubt that logic will shine through on our keyboard coaching.

My only thought for this kind of bench is that we need forwards use to playing at capacity for as many minutes as they can at the right time of year with reduced interchanges. So if we drop a few games at this point we are still in a good position.

Chewster's plan looks a good one to me. We could show Des that plan then change our mind at half time.

Will definitely be a wet track tomorrow night so all usual game plans will go out the window. It's a no brainer that if Prior is in the Paulo drops off. I can't see Flanno changing his plan of having a back on the bench.

We can win this but we will need to be patient and outmuscle them. Bash them up the middle and get them in the last 20 seems to be the consensus.

It's a danger game for us for sure, lose this and the Cowboys game and the doubters will start bleating again.

Any win will be good here.

Well I guess I can live with having this game on the Monday now seeing as the weather has been absolutely shithouse over the weekend. Supposed to be clearing up tomorrow...

Looking at these conditions, i think Bird will be major danger here, has the ability to keep bouncing of defenders.

And the Ennis to the line pass to Lewis or Fifita again in wet this is where we can cause major damage

The short / flat pass close to the line to Fifita or Lewis is not on in the wet...will get dropped.
