Gasnier rumour: to sign with Roosters

Gasnier cost us Josh Morris! He announced he was leaving AFTER Morris had signed with the Dogs! The resultant freedom of Gasnier's cap charge would have enabled us to retain Morris!

That would be funny seeing as it was David Gyngell (Channell 9 and a member of the roosters board) who squashed the deal that Gaz had organised by Eddie Maguire. As soon as Eddie left and Gyngell returned, Gyngell thought "why am I paying for the Dragons to keep Gasnier". As the roosters were not benefitting, he killed the deal and left Gasnier with bills he could no longer afford......It would be funny to see Gasnier trust Gyngell again...seeing as he is the reason the oruiginal deal fell through....

Gaz will try and play for the wallabies. Good luck. He will not be a dual international at his age.

People talk about Gasnier leaving cost us Morris. But if Morris did stay we probably wouldn't have had enough money under the cap to sign Boyd, who i personally rate as more important to the team then having Morris.

Morris went for an extra 70k per year at the dogs, odds are if we kept him we still would have got Boyd.

Just prob wouldn't have money left over to sign Fein mid year

Classic ignorant 'leaguie'. Yep Super football will be dead given the fact rugby union is No.1 in NZ and SA - getting bigger crowds and more income than the NRL, handsdown. Whilst here in Oz union isn't as big, but financially very comfortable, comfortable enough to expand into an AFL heartland and likely to out draw the crowds a perenially successful Storm franchise can generate.
