Really long article but a good read:

Bryce Cartwright opens up on his mistakes, why he left Penrith and his desire to get it right with the Titans

https://www.outline.com/BrbddV
He seems very honest about things.

Dont think you'll see another player say they arent worth what they're earning. Whether it's true or not.

Hopefully he gets his life sorted. Finds form and returns in 2 years.

He done for first thing a grown up needs to do. Owned up to the mistakes he has made. It takes a big person to admit to this, especially in the media. Bryce has shown accountability for his own actions. This is a great starting point.

I too hope he returns and plays with the Panthers in the future.

I think he will and I hope he does when he's sorted.

I don’t think any of us can imagine the stress he was going through.
The issues with his previous partner would be scary at any age, let alone how young he was.
The journos of course decided to smash him the day before the first game of the season, running with full page stories that were very loose on facts.
We all know how that ended up for the poor girl involved, she was exploited so thoroughly by the media it should be a crime. They literally get away with murder, destroying people’s lives for a few newspaper sales.
Bryce has done amazingly really. I hope he continues to do so.

It’s been a bit quiet on the scandal front so Jackson Hasting is been assasinated by the media.
There haven’t really been any facts apart from he doesn’t fit in with the crowd.
He may be the biggest dickhead in the world, which is certainly how he is being portrayed but once again the media is destroying someone’s life on not much at all.

He did an interview with Josh Massoud. Cant blame the media for attending a press conference organised by Manly and reporting on it. We've been told by his coach there's been ongoing issues for 12 months and they have tried different things to resolve it so its not like he wasn't given a chance.

Anyway as for the facts of the most recent incident Barrett that something went down at training with DCE and DCE went to Hastings room later to try and clear the air and there was another heated argument, given that the entire playing group, coach and the club officials all seem to be blaming Hastings I think its fair to say he is a problem.

Maybe it is fair to blame him, my beef is more with the media than some stupid kid.
Sulu is another example from this year, we all got sold he was a lazy dickhead. Turns out he doesn’t like going into gyms because his dad died in one...
It all gets flung thick and heavy at these kids when something like this happens, usually there is another side to it.
I am certainly not on Hastings side but even if he has burned all his chances, he has no defence from this type of media speculation.
Could be DCE shagged his Mum, or has been bullying him since he arrived, who knows.

Suli managed to stay fit last season so that doesn’t add up to me. Why is he trying to be a pro athlete if he can’t go to the gym? He committed to staying fit im sure that’s part of an nrl contract. How did you find out he doesn’t like gyms? Through the media?

And again, Hastings already caught up with Josh Massoud from Chanel 7 who was on the radio this morning giving Jackson’s side etc and I’m sure most media outlets covering the nrl would air his side of the story if he wanted togive it to them. The media are just reporting what Manly have told them, I don’t like our media either but reporting this stuff is what they do. The SMH had Trent Robinson talking about how Jackson’s not a bad guy in their reporting s etc so I don’t really see what you mean, it’s being pretty fairly reported on imo.

I have seen and heard stories of great stuff he has done off field. So he isn't a dick like the Dugan and Fergy type but some reason last 2 clubs the players have pushed him out

Put it this way, do you believe all the media said about Griffin being unpopular with the playing group, all the players lining up to leave etc? If the media (or part thereof) have an agenda, the truth is the first victim.

Tom.

Oh the media can have an agenda, who would of thought it??? Lol some people get so irrational when it comes to media. Of course they have an agenda, create controversy and make money its nothing new.

Im just saying in this instance it isn't being reported with an agenda so its a bad example to use to bash the media. Do you really think the media got together and decided that this week they will ruin Jackson Hasting life(with the help of the manly playing group and barrett)? The story came up and they reported, including giving Jackson and people who support him their say, so what is the agenda??? lol

I'm under no illusions about how scummy and morally wrong the media can get FTR but sometimes they do just report the news in the hope of selling some papers.

Your right it probably is a bad example to use to bash the media but so many people right these kids off for so little. Hastings was a side line to my talking of Bryce Cartwrights treatment in the media.
I will always disagree with anyone who thinks he deserved any of that.
Hastings from all reports is a dick and that’s my point, it has been reported to millions of people for the last week how much of a tool he is.
I am glad to see a few other coaches saying he isn’t but the damage is done.
Do I want him at the club? No.
Sounds like a dickhead and we have no need of him.

I wouldn't be surprised if he was like me. A bit of an outcast because you're socially awkward. It's fine being around people for short periods of time but anything ling term turns pretty bad.

That would make it hard to play and train in a team environment I would imagine.

I work in a small team, where trust is literally a matter of life and death. You need to figure out everyone’s individual quirks and how to include all the personalities.

Fair enough! I don't disagree with anything you've said i just like to have this conversation in regards to the media.

It is definitely hard. Took me years to adjust and I'm still trying. It would explain clashing with team mates at multiple clubs although he could just be a bad guy though since I don't know him.

What do you do?
