Damn, that was recent, and a lucky guess, although I think I saw my first league game on tv in 83, so didn't see a 3 point try game.

Good one. I don't think we ever looked back after increasing the try either. Although my uncle's parrot, that used to say, 'League's the game! Three's a try!', would've had to be retrained (although, it might've passed away before '83).

So we increased the try in line with rugby union (at the time) but I always thought the penalty and dropped-goal were always too high in union and still do, even now they have five-point tries.

At times I think that, and it was definitely the case before the 5 point try, but I tend to think it's needed due to (attempt to mostly) stop cynical play.

All a bit different from the early days of rugby and league when a try was worth 1 point and you scored it for the chance to make a kick worth more.

Geez, average talents that could definitely kick goals, ala Harrigon, Crossan, Witt, would be gold in that scenario.

When I researched the 'try' I noticed that both league and union once had it as worth...zero! So Manu ends up with a grand total of zero career points. Unless he kicked a goal, but I don't think he ever did.

Saw there was a 'cult hero' team on the Warriors site this week, made for interesting reading.

Definition of a cult hero is: a writer, musician, artist, or other public figure who is greatly admired by a relatively small audience or is influential despite limited commercial success.

Some obvious picks - Hitro being probably the best example of a cult hero, Kevin Campion, Paleaasina, Tookey and even Gubb, who was a cult hero despite being so average.

But there's a whole bunch of filler in there. Johnson a cult hero? Please. Kevin Locke? Nah. Even Ruben doesn't fit that mould.

No place for Fa'afili is an oversight, and I reckon we could come up with a lot better team.

So the context was 'cult hero within the Warriors' not a 'Warriors player who was a 'cult hero across rugby league'?

If it was the latter then Manu 'The Beast' Vatuvei would definitely qualify.

In the first category, which I believe is the correct one, I'd push for Todd 'Skinny' Byrne, on the back of that unforgettable try at the death against Souths.

I had a Warriors-themed nightmare last night, which I'm still recovering from.

I'm in two minds whether to share it...in regard to Warriors bad news, we're a fragile bunch here, you see.

I had to look him up. I'm glad he wasn't involved in their 2016 win.

It's unfortunate when this happens as the whole club gets tainted.

He was a future superstar of the game, probably Origin level in 2 years and probably the quickest man in the game potentially

How does that happen? Surely they know the shit will show up in the tests?

Will be interested to hear the explanations on it, had a lot of stuff in his system

Wouldn’t mind an explanation though on how a test from Nov 25 last year takes so long to come out, is it a coincidence that it isn’t released 2 days before kickoff ...

We should be worried about this. With xerri gone, the sharkies will find some extra cash to keep Toby Rudolf
