Careful, he may be innocent.
Surprising if true with his wife and young family just settled down here in the Gong.
Is it just me or the Burgessess seem to have a target on their head from the outside lately.
The phone incident now this..
IDK what to believe anymore :(
Believe half the shit you see and a quarter of what you hear because the world is full of highly talented bullshit artists

If three Storm players had been accused of sexual assault in the last three years and two Dragons players had been caught out with coke in the privacy of their hotel room, what would your opinion be?
Exactly the same. I have relatives who have fallen victim to both (drugs and sexual violence). I want to support a clean sport not a bunch of criminal posers. I leave the judgment of innocence or guilt to the proper legal channels. Thanks for your question.

The NRL can only stand Burgess down under the no fault stand down policy if the possible sentence for the crime is 11 years or more. I don't know enough about this charge to say whether the potential punishment would meet this criteria. If it is up to the club, than it can choose to stand the player down, but I don't think the club can be forced to stand the player down. It is an unsavoury act that Burgess is accused of, so the club may choose not to select Burgess anyway. We will see.

Yes and no.

I heard V'landys on SEN earlier today and he said that GB's charge has a maximum sentence of 5 years, which means the "no fault stand down" policy doesn't apply, BUT, the CEO of the NRL has digressionary "powers" so Abdo could go ahead and enforce it.

Saints don't need this distraction again, the JDB saga crippled us along with having Mary steering the ship to a degree. Hopefully in this scenario the team can block out the outside noise...

It's not a good idea to start comparing cases. But a quick search provides you with your answer.
Again, not good form to make comparisons, particularly when you don't know the circumstances.

This appears to be the case but I don’t understand their reasoning.
St George are potentially THE most followed rugby league club in the world.
This is the problem. We are very much followed in the rugby league world and as such the NRL would like to set an example by being severe with us. If V'landys is involved, even though he is/has been a Steelers/Dragons supporter, he would want something done so that "we are taught a lesson".

I'm only clutching at straws, but I'm sure that the NRL will not want to tolerate any player from bringing the game into disrepute much more.

The thing driving V’Landys and the NRL is that it is an (another) offence against a woman.
