George Carmont

A good insight Roopy into his weaknesses. He does seem to have the opposition guessing in defence when he has the ball - probably cause he himself doesnt know what he's going to do next.

If all the above IS the case then leave him in PL and bring Tighe up till Georgie gains the experience. We are probably only paying the dude $40,000 a season which some may say is too much but with a Saalry Cap of $3.25M among 25 players the AVERAGE player should be earning $130K.

When you have heaps of them in the top 25 earning just $40k or $50k there must be a lot of greedy overpaid players in the team hey Joey Hughesie and Josh?
40 K Try 4 times that mate. We had to fend off the warriers for him last year.

Warren Ryan said it 2 weeks ago , he knew of a player on 170K running around the knights week in week out who he wouldnt pay 5 cents for... then he strongly hinted it was Carmont..

In his own words , if they had let this player go then they could have kept tahu at least....

He has let in over 40 tries this year and counting .... A 1 man highlights reel for opposition coaches...

when is he going to learn to pull his socks up.....

Argh! That annoys me sooooo very much!!!

Carmont has a good speed, he knows how too score tries he just doesn't know how to save them.. He's alright but the Carmont/Quinn combination is useless!
I agree that he should be on Matt Gidley's side.
I aslo agree that his bad defence is being attacked to hardly but then he is bad so yeah.

Far Out !!!!! No wonder everyone thinks Carmont's a waste of space. $170K thats a joke.

Gee our two star sigings.. $230 for Reynoldson and $170 for Carmont. What a great way to sepnd $400k then add to that Ken Conway at $200K and gees $600,000 wasted! - in just one year - No wonder we are going broke!

For those doubting how bad this guy is - and for those who obviously did not see the game on Sunday - here is a re-cap of who was responsible for letting in the tries:

Try 1 – Hill – Missed tackle by Carmont, Quinn
Try 2 – Donald – Missed catch by Salkeld (Donald was off-side though)
Try 3 – Stewart – Failure by Tighe and Salkeld to mark players
Try 4 – Monaghan – Missed tackle by Carmont, Worth
Almost Try 5 - Hicks – Missed tackle by Carmont
Try 5 – Hill – Missed tackle by Carmont, Quinn
Try 6 - Hicks - Missed tackle by Carmont, Smith (on the wing, where was Quinn?)
Try 7 – Donald – Missed tackle by Tanner
Try 8 – Monaghan – Missed tackle by Tolar, Woolnough, Simpson
Try 9 – Kennedy – Missed tackle by Carmont, Campbell, Newton

This isn't an isolated thing - he lets in at least one try every week - more often than not it is 2 or more tries a week. I can not understand why this guy keeps being selected week in-week out. He let in at least 20 points on Sunday!

yosh...
ahhhh i see everyones points and i agree with alot of them... im no rugby league guru but i can see that karmont is capable of becoming an excellent player... it is sooo obvoius that he cant tackle ane everyone can see that (expect Hagan) therefore i think it is crucial that they just teach him how to defend. i also know defending doesnt come that easy as experince is its best teacher but he is pretty good with the ball and with some training i can see that he will become just as good without the ball.
and seroiusly 170k a year for karmont is outragous!!! i wouldnt mind if he got around 90k but seroiusly 170k and 230k for Ryneldson... if we didnt pay them so much we could of even bought Mason... seroiusly Mason off contract and i even heard he has his family in Newcastle and also the "LURE" of playing with andrew johns. waow talk about bad managment but...
yosh...

I cant believe we gave carmont that kind of cash. I wonder what the worriors and raiders offered him. The fact he was given a go first by the knights and also having his brother stu living here, you'd think the knights could have got away with offering him at least 50k less then the other teams were willing to pay.

Would canberra and the warriors offer him over $230 a year. If they would they are as dumb as us.

NO BIHK dont be so stupid. They offered him sh!tloads less otherwise he would have signed with them. When we were a FORCE in 2000 etc we sued to get away with offering $50k less to players.. but now we have to offer $50k more and must have with Carmont and Reynoldson

Well excuse me but that why I thought we were paying Hagan $250k a year to manage and coach our team. Then concentrate on players strengths and weaknesses. Pfffft another waste of VALUABLE money

George Says it all in todays paper ""my form hasn't been what it was last year," Carmont said.

"My confidence has been down and mentally it has been pretty tough.

Clearly the coaching staff havent done George any favours , hes been crying out for a stint in Premier league to sort himself out !

Fingers crossed he gets an offer from somone , so we dont have to go through the torture of his defence next year!

The answer to your last question, would be a deffinate yes... For his try scoring abilities for sure.

No they wouldn't. There are tonnes of better options than a 3/4 who can't tackle - especially if you're willing to pay upwards of 150K.

LOL, The way everyone makes him out around here, he`s deadset the worst tackler in the NRL.... Its quite rediculous how bad people are beating up on him on here. Its like your blaming him for 3/4 of your problems on the field.
