Sticky still thinks it's 1998 and textas are the brand new technology and thinks having a journalist mate can control the public facing narrative

Needs to realise that every player has direct contact with the public in their pocket able to publish in seconds.

It doesn't even matter if everything Hooper said is true. The fact is the raiders are happy to feed these dropkick journos to push their own agenda and guys like Hooper and Kent are clearly biased towards the raiders and are unlikely to report what is happening fairly, they are clearly backing the raiders. What player would be happy seeing their mate shit canned like that? And then the club feeds inside info to journos most players seem to hate just to try and win a PR victory, its ridiculous. Any player would be thinking "will they do me like that if I piss them off?"

I believe George has a very serious mental health issue being separated from his family and support networks with his partner and a baby on the way. But is issues with being release early is simply a dispute about money, he would pay cheques to keep rolling in. If this was only about his mental health, he'd be busy organising his flights home instead of disputing the release he requested because it wasnt perfectly on his terms.

Irrespective of that the club has f**ked up the handling of this in the most spectacular of ways.
Trying to win some PR battle and in the process there no telling what damage they've done to their chances of recruiting and retaining players

The only reason not to pay him would be if he wasnt playing. Missing one game shouldnt be such a big deal especially if he is suffering mentally, didnt ricky give Papi a week off not long ago? Requesting a release at the end of the season is better for the raiders than requesting it right now. As far as what he said publicly, why shouldnt he respond to bullshit claims?

He’ll walk into a marquee pay cheque next week in SL so I do t see money this season being the issue at all. He probably wanted to see out the year so he didn’t feel he was just walking out and could say goodbye to everyone on good terms. Give him his release at end of year, maybe his current stress leave is due to their continued refusal to do so? See if you can recoup some of transfer fee from team releasing him to And let him try and help the club not waste the rest of the year. Ricky and Raiders management are coming across as total Dcks.

I would respectfully say to anyone who thinks this was going to be a one week deal and then he'd have been right to see out the season, i've got some prime swamp land to sell you

Who says he is not? You seem to assume George is upset about the turn of events.

The only thing from him is his tweet about the misleading headline which he quite rightly takes umbrage with.

He's engaged the RLPA to help him deal with the release. It's very clear he's not happy about being released early.

So you think he wanted to sit out multiple games and still get paid? Why do you think that?

Because the raiders cant just release him without him agreeing. If he didnt ask for an immediate release then technically the raiders are breaking the contract.

If he's so desperate to go home that it's cause him to be mentally unwell to the point of needing to withdraw from training and playing, what logical reason is there to think that those mental health issues would disappear between now and his flights home?

Where did you get your doctorate in psychology by the way?

What are you talking about? What evidence is there that he just wanted to get paid without playing any more?

Yes. Technically we're breaking the contract after he is known to have shopped himself to rivals in the off season and has asked us to allow him to break his contract multiple times. Come on now, at least engage in this honestly. It's not as if this came out of the blue. He's requested a release, and being at the club is so taxing on his being that he's unable to even attend work...

Both sides are playing the game here. Stop pretending this is one way traffic

I am not pretending anything. You are the one with all the insights into his mental state. Who besides Hooper has said he shopped himself around?

He is saying he mentally unwell. Has been for a long time, he needs to return home.
That situation escalated to the point where his mental health has deteriorated to the point where he couldnt even show up to train or play... the man needs to go home, be with his family and his support network

His mental health issues arent going to be resolved by keeping him in this country any longer than necessary. What makes you think a week off from footy is suddenly going to make him not miss his family back home? This has been an ongoing issue all year long, the club has tried to manage it, and failed. Time to let the man go home

Are you being serious? You are the one pretending here.

I think that is where the players are mad tbh.

The inference of your post is that he essentially withdrew his labour to send a message. So he was striking. This is the clubs view and the view of many of our fans.

The players view it as George is putting in but is suffering mentally and genuinely needed the week off. When he asked for a week off the club said "oh we will give you the week off alright, take forever off instead" and this has clearly PISSED the player group off.

This cannot be denied at this point.
