Getting to know your fellow fans Part I

Given the recent turbulence in our club and daily lives, I thought it would be a good opportunity to pose a few questions, just to know where we all stand in terms of certain issues.

This topic will be about our coach.

PLEASE NOTE: This is NOT a Brian Bashing thread; I would simply like to separate the Supporters from the Non-supporters.

Personally, I am 50/50, but would have to say I am a supporter of his at this moment. We've been in bad spots before (last year, for example), and nearly escaped.

Unless they do something morally/ethically wrong, I support everyone associated with the club. This includes BS.

Sure, I will disagree with some of his decisions (although the majority of the actual decisions are not visible to me, and even for those that are visible, not all of the information is visible) from time to time, but as long as he is at Parra, I will support him.

I support him but believe that he needs to change his mind and his tactics to be successful. He has become stagnate and needs some fresh perspective.

I support the club and will support Smith while he is there, however it is my opinion that he has perhaps served his time as Parramatta coach. I am grateful for what he has done for us but those good times appear to be over and I wouldn't be against him stepping down.

I support Parramatta. Therefore, I expect that as much as possible, every employee or contractor of the club is the best available option. Where this is not the case, I expect that to be ratified. The Parramatta Eels and it's success should never be compromised.

Brian Smith is not the best available option, and his presence is compromising Parramatta.

Therefore, I am not, stress NOT a Brian Smith supporter.

I support Parra the team but when someone is f**king Parra sideways with crap team selections they will hear about it from me.

I'll give Brian Smith Credit for having and getting the best talent available, he is the master of this and this shows with the Flegg and and Mathews teams but its what happens to these players later that pisses me off, we dont hang on to them. And then we go and sign crap like Peterson, Kativerata, and other reserve graders. WHY???

I used to be a believer in Smith before but not anymore, he totally lost me when he kept wagon at 5/8 when clearly the move was backfiring. He also lost me when he resigned Burt for another 2 years who is clearly not a 1st grader.


Put it this way I look forward to seeing the Coach and talking to him when the coach/fans confrence is on this year.

This is exactly how I feel. I think it will be an injustice if he doesn't ever get to win a premiership but I'm of the opinion that his race has been run and he was beaten by a short head.

I do NOT support Brian SMITH.

If everyone I talk to in league circles thinks -
(a) He cant coach
(b) He is a very arrogant person

I start to wonder...

From my own observations I think
(a) He cant coach - (couldnt win a premiership if Parra were the only side in the Comp)
(b) He is a very arrogant person- any coach who ignores all logic and sticks with favourite selections (hmmm.. Kusto, Cariage and Wags at 5/8 to name but a few) all without reason but hes too damn arrogant to change and admit he was wrong.

Look the amount of people in league circles (that is people who have actually played the game and therefore entitled to an opinion) who endorse the above is overwhelming. Look at the evidence.
Fresh blood time.
I would welcome anyone expect Brian SMITH - we desperately need a change.

bugger, stupid site crashing, ive tried to reply to this twice!!!

I have always been a Parramatta Eels fan, but lately i am a Parramatta Eels players fan due to the fact i have the privilege of being friends with some of the current (and ex-)eels.
As Smithy has sent alot of 'my boys' packing, it would be hypocritical of me to say i like him as coach. i too, feel that he has had his time here, and needs to move on.

Brian had my full support for many years up untill 2 weeks ago....i cannot support him with what he's done to our side.

I will support the PARRAMATTA EELS i dont necessarilly have to agree with whats going on internally or on the field, but i will never stop supporting the PARRAMATTA EELS at all never ever!
