We've resigned Welbeck for 4 years, and signed two new players, 23yo Dutch left back Alender Buttner from Vitesse Arnhem, and 18 yo Chilean striker Angelo Henriquez from Universidad de Chile. It's all on the front page of our website.

Hmmm... 3-2 against Fulham.Given it was 3-1 at half time, a disappointing result and a blown opportunity to give our goal difference a nice leg up (which was what cost us the title last season). On a positive note, a brilliant goal from Van Persie.

Shit, didn't realise Rooney got injured as I fell asleep at half time and only saw the final score. Good to see our injury luck has improved from last season...

Pretty excited bout the new signings, kagawa seems top class but will need to strengthen himself up a bit, gets knocked off the ball quite easily.

f**king insipid, disgraceful performance that somehow still resulted in a win. Van Persie saved our arses with a hat-trick, and well for him that he did, because that missed penalty was a f**king pathetic effort. A number of players should be hanging their heads after that game. I'd reckon roughly 14 of them. Southampton thoroughly deserved to win, and it's cruel for them to lose to a second late comeback in 3 weeks.

I think you are being a bit harsh on some of the players there.

The defence was fine (the first goal was a freekick, you CANNOT put your arms on the defender like he did. The Fulham second last week was also a freekick. He clearly pushed the goalie away, but refs are only ever in favour of United:roll:).

Mid was fine, Cleverly is going alright and Carrick was back in mid for the first time.

The main problem area is between the mid and attack. But players are still getting to know each other. The movement looks good. It will just take time to kick in. Once it does we have the squad and players to really challenge this year.

Yes the pen was pathetic. Still i think we should let him off this once. :)

Its not cruel on them. They are playing in the best league and against the top sides. If you cannot hold a league, tough.

There's no way fulham's second was a free kick. That idiot de gea went flapping and got no where near anything. The striker had a right to go for the ball and that's what he did.

He's a great shot stopper. Up there with the best in the league. But he's obviously still suspect from crosses. He will grow out of it though. He's only young.

Him and Szczesny will be the two best goal keepers in the league within 3 years.

Hugo Lloris says hi.

I think you mean Tim Krul says hi. Imo he's better than both DDG and Szczesny, but those two are going to improve immensely over the next couple of years because of how young they are.

Hugo Lloris is the french Shay Given mate.

Decent shot blocker but flaps with the best of them. There's a reason he ended up at a team outside the CL.

He is going to get monstered at set pieces. Friedel has done nothing wrong since you guys got him and I think should be starting till at least the end of the season. Obviously that won't happen because Lloris would throw a tantrum and be more upset than he already is.

Mate, Carrick was rubbish. He constantly gave the ball away with poor passes. And he wasn't the only culprit, just the main one. The rest of the midfield, except for Scholes when he came on, were mediocre at best. And the defence wasn't fine. Vidic and Ferdinand were well below their best, which is understandable considering they're both returning from injury. We lost the title last year due to defensive errors - Rafael twice against Everton, and I believe it was Ferdinand against Citeh. There's too much of a pattern emerging here for my liking, and claiming there should have been free kicks awarded sidesteps the issue.

I agree with you that we'll come good. We're notorious slow starters (last year being an exception), but I don't know that we can afford to be when we're competing against the new Galacticos. I'm sure the full squad would have copped a hair dryer after the Southampton game.

It was a foul. Just watch Petric. He looks at DDG coming out and just steps to the right to block him.

I found that the mid were passing alright but it was made harder as they are still getting used to where the attackers are going to run. As this understanding grows the passing will become faster which will make it harder for the defensive team to pressure.

Don't worry yet. ;-)

Players stand in front of goalkeepers at a corner all the time and it's not penalized.

I don't see why it would be any different in this case.

There's no way it was a foul. Fergie obviously didn't think it was a foul either. Or he wouldn't have benched ddg for making another dumb mistake that almost lead to dropped points.

It wasn't a corner. It was a cross that the striker made a deliberate barge on the goalie. Its a free kick. I'm even discussing it, i'm telling you.

A bigger deal was not made because
a) It was against United at OT so it goes against the popular agenda
b) United won.

Its called squad rotation. One day we may need out number 2 goal keeper, so its better to give him some games.

A bigger deal wasn't made because it wasn't a foul. You're the only person that thinks it was. Don't you think that says something?

THE world's greatest soccer team, Manchester United, could be heading to Australia in July.

Three cities - Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane - and five stadiums - the MCG, Etihad, ANZ, SFS and Suncorp - are locked in a bidding war to host the Premier League superstars.

A senior executive from Manchester United was in Australia for talks last week.

Alex Ferguson and champion players such as Wayne Rooney and Robin Van Persie would all make the trip.

And it's possible they would be playing against Italian legend Alessandro Del Piero in an A-League All Stars team.

A Manchester United executive last week met FFA executives, government ministers and stadium officials in Sydney.

The club has decided it will tour for four matches in July in preparation for the Premier League kick-off.

Ferguson wants four games - two in Asia and two in Australia.

The games would each attract more than $12 million in revenue from ticket sales, sponsorship, merchandise, TV rights and money from the stadiums and the state governments. The NSW, Victorian and Queensland governments are all desperate to cash in on the opportunity to boost tourism.

A Red Devils tour would provide the code's new boss David Gallop with a massive boost on the back of Sydney FC's recent signing of Del Piero.

"The tour would leave a long-lasting legacy for the development of football in this country," said one senior official.

Further talks on the tour will take place over the next few weeks.

"In terms of squad strength, clearly the absence of a major international tournament next year will mean we would be bringing a very strong squad. Barring injuries, we would expect all the leading players to be there," United's director of communications Phil Townsend said.

Sports-loving NSW Premier Barry O'Farrell is certain to go hard for the event, knowing the Victorians already have a monopoly on major sport in this country with the Melbourne Cup, Australian Open tennis, the AFL grand final, the Boxing Day Test and the grand prix.

Tickets would range from $100 to $300.

I for one hope Sydney win the 'bid' as such, but would happily fly to Brisbane or Melbourne to watch them play

Can't see Brisbane winning, though I hope they do, as I know I have a 0% chance of the missus letting me fly to Sydney or Melbourne.

Well we won...

Midfield looked good, nice and composed. RvP is still settling in, as is Kagawa.

Valencia had a poor game, Nani is frustrating but looked dangerous at times.

Defence looked good and anyone who says DDG isn't a top goalie should just quit posting in the soccer section as they are clueless.

All four pen incidents were pens. The ref missed three of them and also managed to book Vidic for winning a header (??). He was terriblle and tried to ruin the game. Eboue is the softest footballer of all time.
