Okay. I know I'm being a pest asking all these questions butI have one other question I've wondered for a while now.
They say there is a right way to hook up the positive and negative cable on jumper leads when trying to jump start a flat battery, and a wrong way. You know? Putting cable X on to car A before hooking up cable Y onto car B......
What is the right way?

This should help you:
Make sure all unecessary lights and accessories are turned off in both cars. Make sure you are in a well-ventilated area and remove any jewelry you may be wearing. It is also recommended that you wear protective clothing and eye wear . Batteries contain a sulfuric acid electrolyte that is a dangerous poison that can explode when ignited. Also, this may sound like a real no-brainer, but don't smoke near a car battery.
  1. Lay the cables out on the ground between the two cars. Make sure that the jumper cables are untangled and that none of the end clamps are touching each other. Start the car with the good battery if it isn't already running and let it run for at least 2 or 3 minutes.
  2. Take the positive clamp (red with a + sign) closest to the car with the good battery and hook it to the positive terminal of that car.
  3. Repeat this step on the car with the bad battery, hooking up the positive clamp to the positive terminal on the battery. Make sure the clamps make a good contact with the terminal and cannot fall off.
  4. Take the negative cable (usually black with a - sign) closest to the car with the good battery and hook it to the negative terminal of the battery.
  5. This is the most important step. Take the negative clamp closest to the car with the bad battery and attach it to a bare metal unpainted part of the engine or engine frame. DO NOT hook it to the batteries negative terminal as there maybe hydrogen gas present from the battery and a spark from the connection could cause an explosion. This is a common mistake and should be avoided at all costs.
  6. Disconnect the booster cables in the REVERSE order, starting with the NEGATIVE clamp on the block or frame of the disabled car to minimize the possibility of an explosion. That's all there is to it - turn the key in the ignition of the car with the dead battery and it should start. If it does not start immediately, first try revving the engine of the good car. If this doesn't work, wiggle the cables to make sure you have a good connection. A quality set of jumper cables is essential. Whenever possible, follow the manufacturer's instructions for jumping, testing, installing and charging. This guide applies to a six cell, 12 volt negatively grounded system found in most cars, light trucks or vans.

with modern cars now, most of them have on-board computers and electronic this and electronic that..
never have the 2 cars touching or joined together in any way. the polarity may be the same on the batteries but some cars (and i,m pretty damned sure holden are in this category) reverse the polarity for their on-board electronics..
holding/touching both cars is classed as joining the cars together,.

to stop the risk of melting your on-board computer,i undo the terminals from the good battery so its in no way connected to the car.
if there isnt enough grunt in the good battery, then perhaps the other car has more serious problems.now i ring a breakdown truck. i,m not game to open the bonnet any more.

those computers/electronic bits can set you back major $$$ ,so if in doubt, get a mechanic or someone who knows what they are doing.

fan-baller is right about the explosion risk, they can be instant and very serious....

How can you track someones location through an email they send you?
I may be wrong here, but I don't think there is anyway this is possible.
Willow may be the best person to answer this question though. Infact, I sent him an email recently using my Hotmail Account. I initiated that account in Atlanta, Georgia. I'd be interested to see if Willow can tell that by looking into my recent email and its "contents."
Ps: Thanks again Willow for your assistance in that email I forwarded to you.

No worries V.:)

The origin of emails can usually be traced. There are number of programs available that can do this and usually include traceroute, finger and ping options.

To understand how this works, you only have to have an appreciation that email addresses have identifying IP numbers and thatthese IP numbers are 'routed' through a number of servers. If the server allows it, you can trace the entire route of the email from sender to recipient. But sometimes, this information is blocked.

Free download sites like tucows.com have a good range of internet tools to choose from.

(btw, Not sure if this can be done with hotmail addresses.)

send yourself an email then right click on it in your inbox and select properties.

Click on the Details tab and click on message source.

Maximize that and it's usuallyunder the third Received down.

Can you open an account with the TAB over the internet and place bets on pick-the-margin and pick-the-winners on FootyTab?
Anyone done this? Opinions?
A link or direction would be appreciated.
