El Masri kicked just over 86% in 2006. Not sure if thats the best ever though.

Close enough to 90

but it's not 90 is it.

So why should we be striving to be the only team in the history of the game to achieve the unrealistic mark of 90% goalkicking percentage.

85% is a tough enough ask, even for the games greatest and most accurate goal kicker, El Masri.

I think if we can convert between 78 and 84 % we'll be doing ok.

Did some stat searching and found Michael Witt kicked 62 from 67 this year - 92% !!!!!

Ryan Girdler also reached the magical 90%+ in '97. He kicked 76 from 82 for a 92% average.

And did the Warriors team kick at 90%+ this season?

As far as Girdler goes, he played in the weakest competition Rugby League has seen that year.

Did Penrith kick at 90% that year as well?

In the one season Matty Head wasn't injured at the Dragons ie 2004, he kicked at 84% throughout the year & was landing them from everywhere. He's definitely not in the same class as Hodgson as a kicker, but if he manages to stay on the park he is a better option (for goalkicking) than Marshall.

Hodgo had a brilliant year in '05 but has dropped off dramatically since. To say that Head who has a reputation of being a very good goal kicker isn't in Hodgson's class is ridiculous. If anything, Hodgo isn't in Head's class based on recent performances. Head may not have kicked for a while and have dodgy knees but to say he isn't in Hodgson's class is stupid.

We are well stacked with kickers. Our prob is we score our tries out wide and go up in 4s whereas the other side score them under the sticks through our pillows and go up in 6s

Something else to be negative about?

Whats your point?

that guy cracks me up, I feel like giving him something to moan about. Of course there is nothing wrong with many goal kickers.

I recall saying something similar a while ago and was told it was not logical or some sh*t.

That's right Ink we scored tries under the stick and lost on goalkicks to teams who scored out wide. Melbourne and Parra for 2 are starters. Can I then throw in Gold Coast at Campbelltown off the top of my head. From mem we missed one at Townsville as well that hit the post (we kicked the same amount of goals as them but we got a penalty - again all off mem)

A lot of games in the past 2 years were so tight because of the poor goalkicking form. It had a bit of a snowball effect putting the team under even more pressure simply because the boys were only putting on 4 instead of oppositions' 6. But once again WT failed to recognise addressing the problem until it was too late. This isn't about hindsight, it's about forecastability and continued applied pressure.
