Goalkicking

You would have to think that if Hodgo assessed every 80 min player's ability to at least quickly learn to kick that he couldnt find someone better ..in the meantime i'd give it to Farah..at least he gets the 90 percenters and is used to pressure

i'm sure Hodgo is teaching him.
But gee he must be a slow learner....

Without knowing you I suspected as much
Ive been following the Tigers since i was old enough to go anywhere to watch them in '66...i tell people...."what a painful way to live a life"

Yes its been a tough life alright.
best years were Wests late 70's.
2005
2010 and 2011.
Other than that very very average.

My comfort comes from knowing ive been to the mountaintop of despondency. ..disillusionment. ..anger...disgust ( i could keep going) which was when we were Jonestown.....if ever there was a time to pass around the coolaid....i doubt Steve Edmed's eyes have ever fully uncrossed from that experience

Wests thru 70's
Some talent there...
Tommy,Boyd,Donnelly,Dorahy,Mullins ets etc

I'm salivating here.

Why they were my second favourite team.
Speaking of Wests....do you remember a reserve grade game against Balmain at Lidcombe ( i think) around the time Gary Jack came over to the light ....Wests had a tap on the Tigers 25 ( as it was at the time) about in front of the posts and right on cue the whole wests side looked and pointed to the right side of the field. ...everyone including the ref stopped and looked over EXCEPT the man recieving the ball who strolled over next to the posts. That one nearly turned me.
Does anyone else remember it or have i just reached that stage?

Tigers through the 70's.....wouldnt be a jury that could fairly convict you for anything....insanity assumed
We were ok in the late 70’s.I remember in ‘77 when the mercurial Englishman Dave Topliss single handedly won us a semi v manly.

My idol Alan McMahon was our most dominant player in the late 70’s.Geez he was deceptively quick & had a fabulous combination with 5/8 Les Mara.

Les Mara, he was good for us, did you know he was a career crim, I think he is currently still in goal.

Yep he’s in Gaol.I used to work in the city in late 80’s/early 90’s & id see him walking around the city a lot.He was a youthful bugger & a quality 5/8.

If Marsters is our goal kicker next week than Madge is pulling the piss, and if he is the kicker than he is a chance of going three weeks in a row without a goal which I’m sure is some kind of lame record if it’s not already after two.

Tiger05,you will find he was at 75%....Mainly because they were all under or next to the posts.
I have NEVER seen him kick a goal from the sideline.

75% isn't that bad though is it. We would have won if he could kick them from in front that other night. His performance against Penrith was terrible.

I think you can't let him kick again for a while. Mbye should be kicking.

But I do remember a game where Joe Cool was going to be caught in goal from an oppositions kick... so he just strolled over to pick it up and pointed to the dead ball line... everyone stopped and looked to the ref and he took off and ran it out to the quarter line .
Think he was with Illawara though at the time , but he was still a hell of a fullback.

Not quite as good, but did you notice on this game, Robbie hid the ball behind the goal posts to give the team a few more seconds to recover with Penrith to feed the scrum? Classic.

Yeah I saw that. And for a while he was playing with only one boot on, early in the first half.
One of the best bits of deception I ever saw was an early Broncos game with Wally Lewis at 5/8. Brisbane got a penalty about 15 out from the opposition try line. Wally pointed to the posts but quietly told the ref they were taking the tap. The opposing players just saw his gesture and retreated behind the goal line and then Wally took the tap and I'm pretty sure that Brisbane scored off that play.

Judging by the press conference Marsters WILL be kicking.
Sometimes this club has no idea as well as their coaches.
I think Madge is worried Marsters will "spit the dummy" if hes replaced....Very weak excuse.

Watch his face just before he kicks...Its the look of a goalkicker lacking confidence.
For gods sake just go to the coach and say "i dont want to kick anymore,i suck"
