Brenton Bowen Signs woo hoo i like this bloke

http://www.titans.com.au/?mod=news&id=303

The Jetstar Gold Coast Titans have today signed the exciting Brenton Bowen to a two year deal with the Club starting in 2008.

An exciting wing / fullback with exceptional pace, Brenton is looking forward to progressing his career on the Gold Coast.

Brenton said "When the Gold Coast Titans came into the Competition this year, it was a club which immediately excited me because of the appointments of not only players like Scott Prince, Preston Campbell and Luke Bailey, but the Coaching staff lead by John Cartwright and Billy Johnstone. I really think the Club has a big future and I want to be a part of it."

"I am hoping that I take my game to the next level at the Jetstar Titans and with the staff at the club, I am confident that I can."

Jetstar Gold Coast Titans Coach John Cartwright is extremely pleased with the Club's new signing.

Cartwright said "Brenton is another player that we spoke about early in the piece when first starting to assemble the team. He reads the game very well and he offers blinding speed on the flank."

"He has proven to be quite a try scoring machine when given the opportunity and he will add great depth to our squad with his ability to slot in at wing or in the number one jumper."

For Jetstar Gold Coast Titans Managing Director Michael Searle, Brenton offers as much potential off the field as he does on it.

Searle said "Brenton recently approached the Club about the opportunity to move to the Gold Coast and whilst he is an exceptional young talent who will add an exciting new dimension to the backline, we also recognised his willingness to contribute to our Community programs."

" Brenton is currently training with Catholic Education in North Queensland through the Sporting Chance program, and plans to complete his Bachelor of Education in the near future. We are delighted that he will join us in 2008 and I am confident he will prove a most valuable asset."

This is a great signing.

Brenton is a great addition to outside back stocks, with speed, flair and an ability to find the tryline being some of his attributes. Also it contributes further to the Gold Coast club building a strong Queensland culture.

Amazing signing. Their management seems to be going strong so far. He's quite under-rated. Like DQ said, it's good to see them sign some quality Qld'ers.

Good player but I must admit with the playing roster that the Club has assembled now that I am hoping to see some local products get a run over the next few seasons. I know that having a fully fledged coast team is a pipe dream but now that the team is more than competitive let's get the retention committee going and attract our juniors to stay.

Have faith Titanic, these things take time. Burleigh, TH and Ippy are too strong a clubs to not produce for GC.

At the mo, as long as they are signing Queenslanders I'm happy.

You have to remember that most youngsters are signed by a club at 15-16

So the kids we are signing for our future are still 3-4 seasons away

Yep - I'm on the same page - my posting is in no way meant to be negative just that I feel that we should promote local development actively so we can create a Coast Culture and not just a clever conglomerate. Our current players are "ours" now and should be woven into the fabric of our future. Is there a site or perhaps a thread that could be dedicated to news from the development zone? I am sure other geographically challenged fans like me would be interested.

Brenton Bowen is a good signing - where does this leave some of our outside backs is the question? I think he is a starter for 2008 on one wing with Chris Walker. Competition outwide is a good thing as is depth.

Ben Jeffrey I don't know too much about outside the fact he came on to the scene with plenty of promise and hasn't done too much since.
