I think we should bring in golden point from the kickoff at the start of the match

shows you what a second-rate sport we have when they talk about changing rules every 5 minutes when someone has a sook

Regular season: draw after 80 minutes.
Finals: golden point as it currently is.

Nothing wrong with GP and it should be kept for finals.

Regular season - draw after 80 minutes
Semi finals - play extra 5 minutes until a result occurs. Golden try stops the game.
Grand final - play extra 10 minutes until a result occurs. No golden anything.

Whatever it is in the regular season is what it should be for the finals. I'm happy for golden point to either change or be eliminated, but it needs to be consistent throughout the year.

10 minutes each way and if no winner is found then we should have drop offs like touch footy.

No set time frame and every five minutes a hooter sounds and a player from each team must leave the field until a try is scored.

As is the case with many things, they had this right in the first place. If the scores are level after the allotted time, it is a draw. Except for finals which must find a winner. In that case 10 minutes each way, and if its still level replay the game. Or if a replay is not practicable due to fatigue issues, have golden point only after 10 each way.

What would people say to a system in which can be decided without extra time?

Either;
a) Tries scored during the match in question. For example, on Sunday storm scored one more try than the tigers so they win. If that's equal, the next condition could be completed sets etc.

b) Head to head for games played between the two during the season.

c) Who finished higher on the ladder.

Just spit balling etc. etc.

"Wayne Bennett led criticism after his side's 21-20 loss by saying they did not deserve to lose to a field goal after Cowboys winger Kyle Feldt had scored in the 80th minute and Thurston converted from the sideline to level the scores."

Did this dickhead even watch the game?

:lol::lol::lol:

Grand final?

Never heard of the f**ker!

The moment the Broncos complain they get there way, no surprise. It seems Wayne Bennett has more influence and power than the ARLC once the anti-golden point stance got traction now it's gone.

Everything is fine as it is, last year's GF is testament to that. Golden point brought pressure, the Broncos floundered and the Cowboys thrived, deserved champions were found and pretenders found out.

I'm happy for a difference to occur. Regular season games don't need a winner, finals do. Nothing wrong with making regular season games 80 minutes win/lose/draw then extra time in the finals. And proper extra time too.

I don't like the the suggestion of an NFL-style extra time, with minimum of one set each. It works in the NFL because you don't need to do anything out of the ordinary to get the ball down the other end. They have 15 minutes of game time.

I don't get the problem with it, if a team can't separate themselves in 80 minutes then what's the point in playing more time?
RL players are not soccer players, their bodies are not nearly as fit...the body starts playing up...there's a reason why the game is 80 minutes.
Would have thought golden point was a great finish and also more considerate to player's physical needs.
But whatever.

Bennett complained months ago and as soon as it happens to the Tigers everyone starts to agree that a change needs to be made. See the bias yet?

Ben Hunt to go for a field goal in this years GF in extra time thinking its golden point,bounces off the post into Kyle Feldt's hands who races away and scores a 80m solo try for the victory

Poor Ben Bunt
