Goodbye Joey Leilua.

Yeah why sign a bloke who made over two hundred metres and owned you a week ago! This club sucks. Not to mention he is one of the biggest humans ever to play the game. He is clearly out to prove his doubters wrong. He is injury free and certainly that means he might still have another few years in him. Two years plus the rest of this season is agood deal especially given he is probably the best front rower going on the market. I still believe front rowers play their best footy from around 29-35. Naturally their minutes change at times but the quality usually never ceases. He could change our season.

What. The. f**k. How dumb can we possibly be. Shillo would be worth a 3 year deal at our levels of desperation. Midley, Hages... take a bow, this is going to be one of your finest hours thus far.

It's almost like Canberra are trying to save us from ourselves, and we won't have a bar of it.

Fkn hell lads. I am no fan but even I feel your pain on this one.

Surely there is something else inhibiting a Shillo move?

It likely come down to money, meaning we dont have anything left in the cap after handing out upgrades to every man and his dog.

The way we are travelling, it will cost us money to get rid of Leulia, remember the Boyd fiasco when we paid him to leave..................

The deal with Canberra will be something like this, that we pay all of Leulia's 2015 salary, 25% of his 2016 salary, all moving costs, GST, two tickets to ACDC in November, $100 voucher to Ming's chinese restaurant in Queanbeyan two packets of Winnie Blues and a carton of Crownies.

I just put a comment on the Jeremy Smith resigning post on the official Knights Facebook page with the #KnightsRebuild hashtag.

I would recommend that you guys bombard several of their other posts with your thoughts on this.

It is getting beyond ridiculous how inept our administration is.

If we don't have enough cap space to sign a David Shillington type, that will do me.

We must be paying outside backs at least $1 million more a season than any other club. That and our complete lack of corporate nous (resulting in no third party options for our signings) apparently results in what we've got. Forget this year, forget next year... I'm pretty sure we've sewn all the seeds we need to this year to set us up for at least another 4 or 5 years of mediocrity.

McManus and Aku would be a huge part of our salary cap drama. Aku is on an inflated contract for sure - and I think it's the length of Aku's contract that is stinging the most, but if we're paying McManus any more than like $200k then we're getting screwed. Most clubs have reliable wingers on the books for chicken feed. Another irritating aspect to this is that the club is crying poor under the cap, whilst seemingly not doing a f**king thing to fix it. We should be shopping blokes around. The Titans are shopping Taylor around... why wouldn't we be doing the same for our rubbish to free up some space? It's mismanagement in the extreme.

We're just not relevant until we get an owner. It's f**king absurd that the NRL wants to hold onto us for so long to "rebuild" the place when, in all likelihood the new owner is going to come in and strip the joint bare and build the club in their own way anyway... it's just infuriating.

What pisses me off even more is that the other clubs under NRL assistance at the moment seem to at least be making positive strides, or trying to improve... where we're just paddling around in our own faeces.

Shillington was last re-signed when he was 2nd only to Matt Scott for the best front rower in the game, so the money he's on right now is absurd.

For sure, but he's not going to get that kind of money anywhere again. If it makes you feel any better, we're probably playing a winger that can't defend more than you're paying Shillo. I bet you blokes are offering him an extremely reduced extension, as you should be, and he's suddenly playing out of his skin in an effort to up his value. I generally feel like every club and player, and their dogs are taking us for a ride at the moment. Who could blame anyone for doing that, we're an absolute basketcase of the highest order.

To be honest, I'm at the point now where I legitimately hope we continue to crash and burn. The only way things will change are if things get so desperate, and enough fans abandon the club that they can't ignore it anymore.

Credit to Ricky and the Raiders at the moment, he's really nailing it down there.

Gagai, aku, McManus and matautias x 3 will be on more than $2 million next year.

McManus needs to go unfortunately... great club servant, but he is nothing special and would be commanding Origin wages. We wouldn't be in such an awkward spot with Aku if we didn't sign him to 5 bloody years. Hopefully Sione doesn't turn out to be a dud... but how could you tell at the moment? He's a kid running around out there with men that don't particularly give a shit whether they win or lose. At this stage I can't see him being even as good as Gagai.

Gagai we are paying a bit overs, for sure. We're paying him fullback wages - and to be honest he's clearly capable of earning his paycheque there. Unfortunately we're going to see the club next year try and stick with Mamo - probably whether it works or not judging by our attitude at the moment.

I can't imagine we're paying Pat or Chanel too much more than they're worth... who the f**k knows, though.

Realistically, you can say that the only bloke earning his pay in our backline is Gagai... and even then he can only earn it either playing fullback or receiving a shitload of quality ball on the fringe - which we can't provide him. The thing is, our club has totally missed the fact that you should be spending the most on your spine. Our spine would be the cheapest in the league, as well as obviously being the shittiest.

Funnily enough I wouldn't even care anywhere near as much about all of this if the players simply played like professional sportspeople every week and gave 100% effort. We'd win a lot more games, too. As shit as our team is... we should still be jagging wins off individual brilliance if we just had some fortitude and willingness in defence.

^ This. I wouldn't care what they were earning if they deserved it. Gagai deserves his upgraded contract (although he doesn't get it until next year) but I'm not sure any of the others do at the moment. Aku probably deserved his current contract when he signed it (he was literally carrying us and the only good thing we had going for us) but he's certainly not doing enough to warrant 500k now...especially as a winger.

Yeah he's taking a pay cut regardless of where he winds up, but i think its easier to accept a pay cut from a new employer than it is a current one. I only mentioned his salary because that might be what makes a mid season switch impossible. If he's on huge money and you guys are up against the cap, you probably cant take on that salary without breaking the cap in 2015. 2016 under a new deal? Totally different situation.

As much as i hate the knights, i think they'd be mad not to make a serious play for Cornish and Shillington, those two are good players at need positions, would represent pretty good value for money and are potentially high reward too.

We signed Aku to a 5 year deal for $500k a year 6 months after he'd lost all his rep jumpers and not surprisingly he hasn't come close to seeing any of those jumpers since, brilliant piece of business from Gids.

So... We lose BJ who would be on 300k... Yet don't have any money to put an offer to shillington?

I wonder what we plan on doing with BJs money? More contract upgrades to our nsw cup players no doubt.

But surely, after losing Boyd, Scott, gidley, Leilua, Buderus since last year to the end of this season, around $1.6-$1.8m is salary cap and only picking up Tariq and STOCKWELL. We would surely have around $1mil of cap space. Upgrades for the matautias and gagai surely wouldn't equate to a million in salary cap.

If gagai got a $150k upgrade, Sione $300k, pat and Chanel 100k, that should still leave us with 400k left over.

But knowing our club sione probably got 400k and his brothers 200k each to run around in nsw cup.

I know we re-signed Jezza but surely we didn't give him an upgrade.

Holy shit how bad is it when the whole world saw the writing on the wall with Joey Leilua leaving by June 30 except for our useless management.
