Grand Final 13

I was watching ESPN last night and they had the ultimate 40 man roster based on performances in superbowls, so i thought id come up with a team based on performances on grand finals. Now i cant really judge on any performances prior to 89 coz 89 was the first gf i saw, so here it is:

1. Darren Lockyer (Broncos 97, 98, 00)
2. John Ferguson (Raiders 89, 90)
3. Steve Renouf (Broncos 92, 93, 97, 98, 00)
4. Mal Meninga (Raiders 89, 90, 91, 94)
5. Wendell Sailor (Broncos 93, 97, 98, 00)
6. Brad Fittler (Panthers 90, 91. Roosters 00, 02, 03, 04)
7. Allan Langer (Broncos 92, 93, 97, 98)
8. Glenn Lazarus (Raiders 89, 90, 91. Broncos 92, 93, 97. Storm 99)
9. Luke Priddis (Broncos 00. Panthers 03)
10. Jason Cayless (Roosters 02, 03, 04)
11. Gorden Tallis (Dragons 93. Broncos 97, 98, 00)
12. Craig Fitzgibbon (Dragons 99. Roosters 00, 02, 03, 04)
13. Brad Clyde (Raiders 89, 90, 91, 94)

and just because i was bored i made a b team.

1. Gary Belcher (Raiders 89, 90, 91)
2. Willie Carne (Broncos 92, 93)
3. Terry Hill (Manly 95, 96, 97)
4. Laurie Daley (Raiders 89, 90, 91, 94)
5. Darren Albert (Knights 97)
6. Kevin Walters (Raiders 89. Broncos 92, 93, 97, 98, 00)
7. Andrew Johns (Knights 97, 01)
8. Shane Webcke (Broncos 97, 98, 00)
9. Steve Walters (Raiders 89, 90, 91, 94)
10. Paul Harrogan (Knights 97)
11. Willie Mason (Bulldogs 04)
12. Ben Kennedy (Knights 01)
13. Scott Sattler (Panthers 03)

ok bring on the "you dont know sh*t about footy" comments.

That special last night was awesome, I didn't know half the players but I was still riveted to the armchair. No-one does that kind of sh*t better than ESPN.

I wonder how many Dragons from the 1950s and 1960s would make the list?

Fulton would have to be in there too, I guess. He virtually won the 1972 grand final.

Trouble is how far back do you go? You could get a side form the 90's and another from the 80's. A hard one to judge

The list is based on player performances in GF's as I understand it, not by how many they played in.

As far as that is concerned, I think Tawera Nikau in 99 is an absolute Standout, along with Cliff Lyons in 87.

I think PJ Marsh and Jamie Lyon should be in there somewhere.

They both nearly won the 2001 Grand Final for us in the second half. Nearly lol.

But good work.

Agreed with Nikau
And despite the drugs O'Davis used to help him, he was a dead set standout in 97...
