I would say Paul Mares was a halfback in a Prop's body.
Robert Muchmore and Vince Fawcett:roll:
Thanks for that Pete. Very much appreciated. I can tell you that Michael Mosely and Terry Leabeater were also some of my favouries as a youngster along with big Geoff Bugden. The "Bookends" were considered too slow and soft at the start of 86 to give Parra a good enough chance to win the comp if i remember correctly..
I was never much of a fan of Mark Bugden who joined the club later though...
Robert Muchmore holds the club record with 5 tries for the club with Dave Penna and Lyon playing in third grade or u23's
Vince Fawcett played his best game the night we beat the dogs in 95, scoring 2 tries. I can't help but feel that if this guy would of been a legend had he been under the guidence of Warren Ryan or Wayne Bennett.
Danny Crnkovich and Cameron Blair were my faves
Danny Crnkovich remains to this day, the best attacking fullback this club has ever had...
Aah the memories... I was president of the Danny Crnkovich Fan Club (circa 88) and new his mother very well...
Her English was not the best, but she was a very nice lady...
Buggo (Mark version) scored the try for the Bulldogs in 1984 to stop Parra making it 'yo ho ho four in a row', and my mate Chris Mortimer kicked the winning goal. Bulldogs won 6-4 with the Crow crossing for Parra's try just before half time.
Hmmm ... needs more David Woods in these lists.
Should have been one of the all-time greats for the club.
Talent-wise he was as good as any outside back I've ever seen. EVER.
he was a footballer that bloke, he should of played for a Australia had he only suffered half his injuries.
