Vettori is a dog, but I agree that Haddin should have just sucked it up and said "I f**ked up.

Why's Vetorri a dog? Ponting has talked to the press about his disappointment with the opposition often enough

One dog here - Haddin!

I don't think he f**ked up

Oxenford f**ked up

Haddin's mistake was the interview protesting his innocence and asking for an apology

Vettori's done nothing wrong, aside from upset over sensitive types like Ponting, Haddin and El Diablo

We'll disagree on the first, and fair enough. But given that happened, he should have either said he screwed it up, or said nothing... what he did was petulant, stupid, and many other adjectives

Why..there are wrong decisions left right and centre..lets get the decisions right!

Not what happened in NZ... system was appalling, not using technology, errors weren't fixed, and benefit of doubt removed for batsman in some cases

Someone earlier said the Kiwis don't have a moral high ground to take as McCallum would have claimed the wicket too. Absolutely correct. So would most keepers in the world, knowingly or unknowingly. And that's fine by me.

The interview is what makes Haddin look like an absolute muppet

The system should not be used for LBW's in my opinion, unless it is a ball pitching outside leg stump. Lets use the system for the right purposes- whether there is a nick, inside edge onto pad, etc. LBW's are so much human judgement I hate using technology for it, unless it is a ball pitching outside leg.

Never ever ever ever use it for any LBW decisions.

What happens if it shows the ball bouncing half inside the line and half outside? What if its only a fraction of the ball in line?

That is called in line, and any benefit MUST go to the batsman anyway. If unsure the on-field decision stands. Pretty simple.

Not the way it worked though...

Windies had a dodgy one or two, but I'll use the two NZ examples

Flynn - lbw b Gayle.... given benefit of doubt by onfield umpire... Gayle asks for referral as big partnership in progress and Flynn nearing century... and it's close... replays show technically out, ball would hve hit outside of stump... but no way on field umpire could give it... decision changed... (Vettori bowling was given benefit too)

Later - McCullum facing big appeal for caught behind - given out... McCullum didn't hit it, so asks for referral... can't use snicko or hotspot (both show he did not hit it)... ball goes near bat, no deviation etc, but off-field umpire concludes no evidence to change decision....

If they can't use technology (i.e., snicko, hotspot) then no point

My view is if the technology is there, no reason not to use it. I would like it trialled in a few "minor" test matches first.

I think if the vid umpire spots something obviously wrong he should stepin and help the 2 in the middle. The decisions should be linked between the 3 umpires.

Yeah, it totally sucked. It was just adding another layer of poor decision making and controversy. Use all the technology or don't bother at all. Three challenges was too many too. It was a challengeathon out there.

a few years ago Aus played West Indies in a ODI. they went to the third ump for a stumping. when showing the replay it turned out Chanderpaul had been bowled but he couldn't be given out as the third ump was only there for stumpings and run outs

dunno if things have changed since then
