The thing though that is letting Haddin down is his comment that 100% the ball hit the stumps. The stills show the bails still on when it's going into his gloves (refer the photos in the game thread).

He is a complete goose for saying that. The vision does not lie.
This is somewhat like another Lara/Healy.....
The thing that Healy and Haddin have in common is that they are both annoying merkins.

You can also see on the footage haddin was looking down at the stumps, while the ball was in his hands and seen the bails coming off as he moves his gloves, he would have known it was the gloves took the bails, the ball was in his hands and waist region before the bails came off.

So haddin must be that stupid if he still thinks the ball dislodge the bails

Whats Haddin going to do next? Challenge Vettori to a duel? Hopefully this blows over soon. Haddin is the one pouring petrol on the fire.

Ironic that you would quote a man that you have bagged mercilessly for the past few years.

Hypocrite.

Just quoting what's in the media... good that Hair has a role that suits him now - I criticised his on field behaviour...

and he's squirming now... Ity was very similar with the Dyer incident, the same excuses being peddled by twizzle came out

Unfortunately for Haddin, it's all there for everyone to see... but we all move on

Exactly, he's the one elevating it saying he's disapointed with Vetorri... bit childish really

Haddin f**ked up, in a press conference what is Vetorri supposed to say... "oh, I am going to have a chat wioth Brad, then I'll get back to you"

If had have been the Australian captain accusing someone of cheating you would have been asking for them to be kicked out of the game.....

Clearly wasn't out and I'm guessing Haddin knew was the case.

I don't think it makes him a cheat, but Vettori never said that. Nor did he insinuate it. To me, the whole cheat thing is Ponting upping the ante.

It was a show of poor sportsmanship. I'm a big Haddin fan, as both a player and as a bloke off the field. Hopefully it's an isolated incident. Haddin really should come clean and admit his mistake.

For the record, philosophically, why is what Haddin did any worse than a batsmen standing his ground after nicking a ball?

Not much difference between Vettori responding to the incident in the press conference or Ponting responding to Vettori in the press

Like the Kiwis moved on from the underarm incident, yeah?

You're the voice of reason today Meth, what's going on?

Incidentally, there is a huge dfference between full speed and slow motion replays.

Looks dodgy as all f**k in slow motion but at full speed you wouldn't know.

Its all pretty simple.

Broom, can't and should not challenge an umpires decision. He should walk once the decision's made. No fault there.

Umpire, didn't see the hands break the stumps rather than the ball. But decision has to be made. At full speed, in real time, nobody really questioned it. Umpire has some blame, and had a shocker.

Ponting, defends his player. Even now he knows he is wrong, or least he should. If he doesn't then he has a problem. But defend his player and shelter them as much as possible, that's his job. In private however, he should be giving haddin some advice.

Haddin, well, it happened fast. He knows he knocked the stumps. He has not long to think about it. Decides he must make the decision for the team, might have some doubt in his mind. Fine. Sees the replay, think about it and then should say, I'm wrong, sorry. But he doesn't. What a dick!

I'm over here in NZ. Kiwis win the match and give it to me. But I can take that. We'll win the next I'll tell them and we normally do, and I give twice as much back. But Haddin, behaves like that, I skulk off to the corner and pretend I didn't see the match and can't comment. What an embassment!

It doesn't matter whether he didn't see the hands break the stumps, rather than the ball. I don't think anybody could ask the umpire to distinguish between the gloves and the ball at that speed.

But the square leg umpire should have seen from his vantage point at square leg, which none of us had, that Haddin's gloves were in front of the stumps. That's basic stuff

I think Oxenford, more than anyone, is to blame.

Haddin trying to pretend that what everybody knows happened, didn't happen, is particularly agonizing, I agree

Been happening for a long time, batsman stand their ground on catches , bowls
so it should be easy to find the rule. you're claiming this is in the rules. i don't think it is.

I think Haddin should own up and say he made a mistake if he is, and has been genuine, but asking for an apology is a bit over the top.

I think its just a case of the batsman waiting for the umpire's decision which he is entitled to do.
