I found this in the NZ forum:

Eels Slip Away From Leuluai
17/11/2004 12:44 PM NewstalkZB

It looks as if the Warriors have put a stop to Thomas Leuluai's chances of playing for the Parramatta Eels next season.

The Warriors will release the young Kiwis halfback, but only to a UK club, not another NRL side.

Parramatta have been keen to sign Leuluai.

However Leuluai says it does not look as if that is going to happen.

He says they have tried to persuade the Warriors to let him go to another NRL club, but it appears those efforts have been fruitless.

Leuluai says it is frustrating given he was really keen to go to the Eels where coach Brian Smith was really positive.

Leuluai says he is likely to spend one year in the UK, before trying to break back into the NRL.

He says he cannot say where he is headed, but he will be getting a regular starting spot, which can only be beneficial.

Leuluai says he is still young and has plenty more to learn about directing play on the field.

//I personally say thank god his not coming....but hey what do i know im just a supporter lol

God how I hope this is true.

After hearing Jake rant and rave about how good young Tim Smith is, and hearing Game First's report on the training session and how Tim took control, I want to see him wear the 7.

Yeah and EVEN IF Jake was a tad biased, Game First's analysis of the way he trained with the Firs Grade squad was good enough to prove to me that this kid wants to play First Grade for us.

And he's probably good enough to do it.

I recon we Get Smith playing halfback from the beggin of the season and when Green breaks first grade atleast we wont have 2 totally inexperianced halves.

Green started the year in SG Ball also progressed to Flegg. I don't think he played in reggies unless he was a late call up towards the end of the season???

Green was in Reggies bench for a while. But was later demoted. A good move IMO. To young to be playing that high.

didn't think so

I know Tim Smith played reggies and I thought that he may have gone back to Flegg for a little while but I didn't think Green ever got as far as reggies even on the bench.

Basically everyone moves up a grade this year

Smith in 1st grade
Green into reggies
Queenan into Flegg

Queenan has signed with Newcastle.

Its seems I was wrong about Leuluai coming. I am however very happy for Tim Smith because if he lives up to his potential he may be our half back for the next 10 years. Goood Luck young man.

PS. I saw his profile 180cm and 90kg. Thats impressive for a 19 year old halfback.

Well between Smith, Green and Perenara it looks as though we're set in the future for the halves.

Now, if only we could keep them...

He's big for a halfback.
