Halves Ratings for Next Year

2012....Sharks Year

That's understandable re: keeping the year 2012. Yep the derbies are awesome. Captain Pants Down has recruited well, but I'm only quietly confident. But boy, isn't all the pressure on you guys next year. 2013-2014 is your shot. Gal's not getting any younger, and everyone else will be getting past their prime. Two years for you guys I reckon, I hope you well.
Don't like to agree with a dragons fan but i do feel like the next 2-3 years is our best chance for a while. You never get too excited as a Sharks fan though.....what can look good on paper can easily turn to shit with a few injuries.

It's dumb to just compare the 6 and 7 without looking at the 1 and the 9 as well.

Cronulla (Gordon 8, Carney 8, Robson 6, De Gois 7) 29

Melbourne (Slater 10, Widdop 7, Cronk 9, Smith 10) 36
Newcastle (Boyd 8, Gidley 8, Mullen 7, Buderus 7) 30

The Maloney/Pearce combination could potentially be 15+ out of 20 given their respective form in 2010 and 2011. Got their teams to the GF in those seasons so they can't be rank duds. But if you mark them on last year's form they'd be worth 7/20.

Both need a heart transplant, too.

ROFL at Isaac Luke being a 9... So you think he should be rated the same as Marshall, Farah, Cronk, Stewart, Foran, Barba? Really?

Not to mention people rating Gidley so high... Tell em they're dreaming.

Brisbane Broncos (13/20): Wallace (7) Prince (6)
Wallace started last year very strong, good defender and a bit underrated. Prince can be an 8 some days and a 4 on others. A change of scenery may help him recapture some of that intensity he has been missing in his game.

Gold Coast Titans (??): ??????

North Queensland Cowboys (13/20): Thurston (9) Morgan (4)
Thurston is one of the best in the game, but he definitely carries the halves combination

Melbourne Storm(16/20): Widdop (7) Cronk (10)
Cronk is the best halfback in the game. Frankly I find it hard to find a fault in his game, he is extremely clinical, seems to make sure every part of his game is at its peak. Widdop would start at five eight in most clubs

Canberra Raiders (15/20): Campese (8) Williams (7)
If Campese can stay injury free, they make one of the best combinations going. Entirely undermined by a mediocre coach though. Williams is now a strong first grader and I see him as a future rep player potentially.

Newcastle Knights (12/20): Gidley (6) Mullen (6)
Gidley has sparks of greatness but was never a leading man IMO. A decent player but won't lead the Knights anywhere significant. Mullen can still pull out a blinder but they are few and far between

South Sydney Rabbitohs (14/20): Sutton (7) Reynolds (7)
Reynolds is the best up and comer, but this year he needs to start playing a more expansive role. I do believe that Maguire had the halves playing very simply roles this year that worked. Reynolds focused on his kicking and Sutton on his running. And it worked. But Reynolds can become a much more complete player.

As usual Sutton is underrated. Was the best player for Souths last year. But I still see his future being back at lock. Would like to see him replaced by Luke Keary at five eight.

Cronulla Sharks (13/20): Carney (6) Robson (7)
Carney is an enigma. He can be great but his game is full of flaws. And he just seems disinterested. Robson is a great player, I reckon one of the best for the team last year.

St George Illawarra Dragons (): Soward (7), Drinkwater/Beale/Fien ????
Cant really judge a combination we don't know exists

Sydney Roosters (12/20): Maloney (5) Pearce (7)
Pearce is a bit underrated. Can pull off some excellent plays. Smith was really killing his potential IMO. Is also probably the best halfback defensively.

Maloney is overrated. Played above his weight for a year and quickly went back down to being a reggies quality player. Can't defend, average kicker. Not many strengths in his game.

Canterbury Bulldogs (10/20): Reynolds (6) Keating (4)
Reynolds is another player playing above his potential. If he can maintain his intensity for the rest of his career he will do well. But teams are going to begin exploiting him, he runs up out of the line too often, misses tons of tackles. Could easily develop into the weak link of the team.

Keating is just a boring, boring player. You'd be forgiven for forgetting he exists.

Parramatta Eels (8/20): Kelly (5) Sandow (3)
Seriously the worst combination going around. The only regular halfback who has never played in the finals. Despite being a starting halfback for five years now. The worst defender in the game, he also has discipline issues and everything in his game leaves a lot to be desired.

I like the look of Kelly a lot though. He has smarts about him and he will be the surprise for Parramatta next year. I don't want to overrate him, but could potentially be a seven by the end of next year

Wests Tigers (12/20): Marshall (9) Anasta (3)

Penrith Panthers (11/20): Walsh (5) Coote (6)

Manly Sea Eagles (16/20): Foran (8) Cherry-Evans (8)

New Zealand Warriors (13/20): Johnson (7), Leiluia (6)

I got bored of this by the time I got to Wests so I cbf writing any more

Issac Luke's statistics speak for themselves. His CVR for a hooker is second only to Cameron Smith. That makes him better than Farah, Ennis, Ballin et all. His metres from dummy half are only twice as good as his nearest rival....

Now, you tell me why he shouldn't be a 9, and actually back it up.

Issac Luke is an international and a match winner and the second best hooker in the game

Giving him a 9 is not hard to believe. Especially when NAS seemed to be giving everybody 7 - 10

If this is for next year why do people keep including Michael Morgan for the Cowboys??

Its clear that the club is going to play Stella Artois there, I don't agree with it and hope he never plays for us, but they wouldn't have gone to all this trouble to play him in QCup.

I ask the LU public: barring any BunniesMan thread, have we ever seen a thread filled with as much pure blind bias as this one?

Very Unbiased assessment based on pure facts- the Roosters will have standout halves combination and team as well(unfortunately young Moga did his ACL at training but may be back mid season or possibly earlier)- the sleeping giant will awake that is the Sydney Roosters- laugh if you want but its the year of the Roosterssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

Cherry-Evans is pretty overrated, he was completely lost without Foran this year, he's good but I don't think he's got as much improvement in him as others
