HM Golds
The Standouts for me sitting behind the bench were 18 Hooker/Half Jake Walpole who was quite good in directing the side and the play from numerous areas and 16 Prop - Tepai Tepu-Smith, who actually played in boots that were too small for him but still had a fantastic game and was one of the stand outs for the Golds.
The Newcastle side played 2 X 10 minutes with the Blues and then 2 X 10 minutes with the Grey side, we played 4 X 10 with Golds and 4 X 10 with Blue. It was easy to tell the Newcastle Blue side is far better than there Grey side, some of whom might find a way into a Centurions side but that is for the coaching staff to decide.
The Score was 3 - 0 Parramatta after 4 x 10 minutes stanzas with 2 minute Breaks played in 42 degree heat but cooling at the end of the last 10 when the change came through.
HM Blues
4 - 0 Parramatta's way, the temperature droped and the side ran against the wind for first 2 stanzas and looked good as a team scoring well.
2 - 0 in the 2nd Stanza showed the side was strong all over but this stanza was against the Blue Newcastle side.
19 - Zack Clay (9 from Gold) very strong runs and patient with his passes and played about 35 minutes over the 2 games was quite impressive.
9 - Kaysa Pritchard very good.
SG Ball
2 x 25 minute halves each
6 - Manet Pepe scored and looked dangerous
5 - Charlie Bonnano good runs a tackles scored a try in the 2nd stanza
1 - Jacob Gagan has been injured all of season was involved in trying to save a try and may have injured a shoulder.
10 - Junior Paulo, Good run by Junior and scored on a barge over in the next set from 10 out. he played SG Ball last year so I expect him to produce.
4 - 5 Newcastle's Way
6 errors in a row before the end of the second stanza allowed Newcastle to score and then from a good kick off that resulted in a line drop out, and error on the last let Newcastle of the hook
SG Blue
1 - 3 Fist Stanza to Newcastle
Good try buy 11 Dion Mooney, setup by the 13 at dummy Half
Poor defense and 2 many errors.
2nd stanza was played under lite rain but Parra with the Wind
Storm approaching in early 2nd stanza caused heavier rain
1 - 0 2nd Stanza to Parramatta, Newcastle win on aggregate.
The Errors from our SG Ball sides were telling and although the coaching staff commented that our boys looked fitter, the handling and errors put pay to any chance of showing their skills.
All in all a good hit out and we will all be looking for some improvement in the squads after a week of training and some of the Squads are refined.
I have the Team Lists, I am going to put them through a scanner and OCR them so I don't have to type them all out and I will provide them a little later on.
