Your Harold Matts B team beat Steelers 22-12 today. Just to clear up some misconceptions re Roosters from a couple of weeks back:

of the normal starting 17, 8 are Roosters juniors including 2 15y/olds and the other 6 from the same club team (St Charles); 7 are from Penrith (4from Glenmore pk); 1 from Queensland and 1 from Shellharbour

3 Roosters juniors from St Charles who would have been in play for other teams (2 @ Souths, 1 @ St George)

Roosters were poor in a downpour against Bulldogs but should have beaten Wests so many silly mistakes. Now they've cut the mistakes down, they've played three good physical games. The real test is the next two weeks (g/Coast and Manly) but considering the late start and uncertainty about even having a team, they've done really well. The key is coaching - not just technique but cameraderie - you wouldn't know which were the Penrith kids and which were the Roosters - they get on and blend really well. You can see coaching skill a mile off - the Steelers were very well coached despite moderate ability; when Roosters played Panthers, as you know, Panthers made basic errors, had little play structure played as individuals. leave you to draw the conclusion.

Sg Ball Penrith 28 beat Titans14

Any reports from the game Isiah? Early reports I heard was that Moylan played well and that Reece Reegan was especially impressive. He played a full Matts game and backed up at hooker for ball. Heard he set up 2 and scored one himself. Keen to know your thoughts, or if anyone else knows anything?

true about regan but moylan was ordinary, outplayed by his opposing 6.
only thing i noticed from moylan was a poor drop ball 10 min into the game. meskell of the titans scored from the next set.
viapuna was good, quirky thing i noticed was that he takes the tap from penalties, reminds me of steve price as a schoolboy.
beale didn't play, was he injured or stayed in sydney for the 20's?
meeham scored twice, austin's try was inventive, didn't bend down to pick up the ball at dummy half one metre out, just toed it thru and won the race. otherwise was busy without standing out
that try was a turning point, 48 minutes in.
half time was the best thing for the panther forwards, they were getting dominated by some very willing titans def leading up to the break.

seaton was solid, sene and kilifi were good late when the panthers were on top. hardly noticed anything harry did.
malakai played fb, his dad and sister were funny in their comments from the sideline, travelled a long way to watch him.

i was dissapointed with borgas for the titans, hardly sighted!
hook, srama, skyring and vaoa were their best

back with the 16's loss in a few minutes

16's there was some yawning gaps in the panther's defence most of the game.
don't think they'll threaten the top sides unless they can fix that up.
tuivasa was intelligently used in spurts. how can any 16yo be THAT big. didn't start, vave did. funny comment from some titans fans after halftime, "hey, big fella, we've got a steak sandwich up here for ya" he scored one try from a mouse trap play 2 metres out, then set up another when he picked up the ball against the feed after packing in a scrum at prop [how do you do that?], on halfway, ran 40 bumping off defending and passing for ryan wilson to score.
that was the team's happiest moments while the titans hooker was in the sin bin.
sorry i didn't really natice anyone else, JT [the 7] was clueless
durheim, barlen wilson, and gronvold were the best for the titans

Matts were simply out-played and out-structured.
Halves got no idea.
Too many single stars, not enough team-plays.

Tuivasa was good 1st half.
Wilson had a mixed performance.
Regan did nothing in the matts game.
However he redeemed himself in the ball.
Maybe playing him at hooker is worth a try.
Liked the idea of Tuivasa coming off the bench, smart.
However, probably worked him too hard in first half.

Once again discipline was the problem, Also silly wasted options near the line killed them. Not the matts worst performance, but far from their best.

Reegan playing Hooker for Matts this weekend now after Ball performance. Tai coming off bench again. Will be a good game v Manly who were impressive against Norths to remain undefeated. They only dropped the ball 2 times all match and conceded from memory only 2 penalties. Looked very good in attack to.

Ball should be an easier time of it. Manly looked fairly ordinary.
