from all reports blake south had an awesome tournament and outplayed all the hookers but because ccc didnt make the final he missed out that just goes to show the teachers have certain protical when picking sides considering harry threw the intercept pass that lost the semi final for ccc when scores were 12all with minutes left and ccc would of won on a count back being first try scorers and obviously he was penciled in i also believe tom eisunhuth got injured therefore limiting his chances p.s did i mention jacob gagan made it with only playing 20mins all tournament what a joke some players are already penciled in and thats why a lot dont go on to play first grade from that aussie squad...

Harry Siejka schoolboy my arsee, ask him how many days he went to school.
I think he has increased his attendance to one day a week now hence the reason i think the aussie team is penciled in before the tournament and it says a lot about the credibility of the selectors involved...

Sam Irwin was easily the best hooker there. Close between Redman and South neither possessed the quickness around the ruck of Irwin. Redman had a very good final and that got him across the line. They both were very solid in defence and found opportunities to get out of dummy half.
Very light on for 7s. None stood up and with needing to pick 2 from the three top teams Harry got nod along with Cullen from Qld cause they were least worst, rather than best. Both showed signs of dominating the game even if both were at times selfish and took several wrong options. Dont know where you got that Gagan only played 20 minutes I saw all CHS games and he played much more than that and was safe and secure even if unspectacular. Players aren't pencilled in beforehand. With selectors across a host of teams/states most selectors dont see junior rep games and know players. If it was chosen pre tournament how come Dale Clacherty who represented NSW 18s only a few weeks earlier couldn't seal an outside back position? It was because he didnt play well while others did.

As you repeated i said penciled in which means you can get rubbed out if you play poor ive heard every player that has played 20s this year were PENCILED in and gagan played a couple of games which totalled roughly 20-30 minutes and he didnt impress you cause he was injured and still made it and in relation to redman making it over south is because his team made the final so they automatically make it which is my point in blake souths last game he also got man of the match so if you make the final your in not the best player, also clacherty wasnt the only nsw rep that didnt make it.Now i dont know about you but picking three halfbacks is rediculous and the idea of using one as a backup hooker they already have a backup hooker so it comes down to coaches favourites not the best players they should have an independent selector have not an teacher who has never played the game is my point......

He went really well. Kept bending the line back when he took the ball up was aggressive in attack and defence. Got more minutes as the tournament went on due to his performances and injuries to other team members and stepped up every time. Saw him in some of the lead up games that CCC played and wasnt impressed. But to his credit was very good when it counted at the championships.

Blake South did play well but the two top hookers where Redman and Irwin.

Harry can be very good (1st game) or very bad(2nd game) there is no inbetween.

Tom Eisunhuth was unlucky he did have limited chances but still played well.

Jacob Gagan...still shaking my head on that one..I think he was even shocked to get in...Gagan on what was displayed at the tournament would have at best been the 3rd choice winger behind Tedesco and Rockolati.

You are way off the mark!
1. You said South "outplayed all the hookers" he didnt he was easily behind Irwin and a touch behind Redman.
2. CCC had 7 selected, CHS had 7 selected, QLD had 8 selected, hardly supports your theory that playing in the Final is needed to automatically make it, but rather reflects the closeness of the competition where each team had a loss and a win in the rounds and where CCC missed a conversion after the bell in the semi to level the game.
3. Each association had a selector so hardly Coaches favourites. the process is a democratic vote on players
4. Gagan was somewhat lucky but Murphy (CCC) and Greber (QLD) were terrible. Murhpy moved to backrow and Greber saw little gametime after first up shocker. Rockolati only main challenger as Tedesco and Wells also chosen but his defence let him down a couple of times so no massive suprise Gagan got nod.
5. Whebe also played 20s but not chosen even though only one 5/8 was ultimately selected. Didn't have a bad tournament and played final in winning team.
6. On a big tour not suprising to pick 2 Halves. Cullen and Seijka. All positions have at least 2 cover for the tour.

Stretcher you have some very definite ideas on how some were hard done by or others had preferential treatment for someone who obviously didnt attend. Probably better to ask general opinions on players performance or how selections are conducted to get a more rounded opinion. Many on here have them.

I did better than that i asked a selector and got some stats and the stats of the hookers especially and the hooker with most dummy half runs SOUTH most line breaks SOUTH most tackles SOUTH equal with redman in tries and last but not least hookers with most try assist drumroll yep you guessed it SOUTH is my point a little clearer now...but i will say queensland hooker was very very good and i do believe redman had three runs for 10metres gained and fell over the line for try in the final huge stats...not

And i wonder how many of the guys picked from ccc and others actually get in the starting team or get an actual game they were picked to make up the 24 they take...

From the starting side they picked CHS have 5, QLD 4, CCC 3 and ACT 1. Pretty fair reflection I would think.

What starting side they wouldnt of picked a starting for the first test yet my point was no ccc boys apart from groat would be certain starters..

I assumed your selector mate would have told you that they selected a top 13 as their "ideal" starting side for the academy games at the end of the tour. All the boys will get game time early, its quite reasonable to suggest with the easy games first Groat wont start there, but in the "prefferred" team the numbers are as I said which is a fair representation of the championships. FYI Groat was in the top 13 along with 3 others from CCC.
