There is a sound argument in going back to weight divisions as opposed to age divisions.

The number of pacific islanders kids playing league these days and the size factor makes it imperative to grade players on weight not age.

Soccer will continue to be the benefactor unless things change. Most parents will not allow there kids to play league against other kids when there is a 30kg weight differential.

Why would anyone believe anything selector or any other person on here say.

Clearly they have a problem with certain people. Giving player ratings based on what they think is a joke.

Selector has been negative to most players... perhaps it's a case of their kid missing out.

what i reakon the selector is doing lizziebra is he or she is showing that
their is many mistakes in the harrald matts side. and we have got reece effin regan
who doesnt no how to pass a ball from dummy half
and likes to be an individual n do it all himself. but bombs all these
tries that tai could have scored wen reece is dummying it n going him self atleast 5 times n still didnt succeed

obviously there is some bias towards their favourite players, and reading past posts helps decipher this a bit, but you, lizziebra , can also put your two bobs worth.but not knowing any of the players like i do , it does help a bit , especially if you want to keep following this team

Fibromn you mention that talented kids are giving it away. However if a player is truely talented he is able to deal with this. Darren Lockyer and such must deal with it even at NRL and thst is talent.

My playing weight was 85kgs. Played ion the outside backs and a bit of back row here and there. I loved tackling the big islanders. They were big and soft. It was fun jamming the shoulder under their ribs. I didn't enjoy hitting it up at them.

Point in case. I was 85kgs, squatting close to 200kgs and dead lifting the same. These big blokes were about 110-120kgs, probably lifting the same weights.

It frightens me to think about hitting it up into someone that was 170kgs, that stood a foot taller than me and lifted double the weights in the gym. That is what these kids are faced with.

You might be a tough kid at 55kgs, but you get hit by someone weighing 100kgs at the wrong angle and you are putting yourself at risk.

There needs to be weight divisions up to Harold Matts level. Eg. Up to 15 years old.

As a parent, I don't want to be pushing my son around in a wheel chair for the rest of his life. I've already had it out with the coaching staff who want to stick him on the wing, marking up against against kids double his size. They didn't offer to push the wheelchair, hence his non attendance this year.

Hey guys, I reckon Harold Matts really isnt an indication of where players will be in the future. Many players excel in matts then go nowhere. whilst others fail in matts and go on for great things. Although the matts season is interesting, I wouldnt read too much into their performances.

Many of the forwards in harold matts are still growing. With so many islanders around it is hard for these forwards to shine if they are smaller forwards.
I think more concentration should go towards the Sg ball players, that is when most of these players fully develop.
Penrith matts should go real close to winning this comp with the draw they have. The ball however are in big trouble this weekend. These players will decide the teams fate this year.

1. Tai tuivasa
2. Jason antonelli
3. Reece Regan
4. Jason Doran
5. Tevita Vave
6. Aaron Tavaale
7. Suni Fatiafalofa

The only way for our matts to wipe out bulldogs and parra is if our talented forward pack begin to play as savage pack that hurt and scare the other teams. These matches will be won through the middle not through the fancy stuff of Wilson, Heterick.

Good luck Penrith against Wests this week.
And bulldogs in ball :)

The fact is Tevita Vave cannot or will not defend when the going gets tough, Jason Doran would rather be on the sideline. Tai, Antonelli , regan and suni are the matts only hope, as the rest are not up to it. Wilson, hetrick and Hether will be the teams chances in the backline, if the halves can send the ball.

Interested to hear the opinions on Suni. I havent really had the chance to see him play he was 20th man early in the season and has moved his way up the pecking order obviously far enough for more than one person on here to see him as a key member of the team.

Mate ive seen Vave and Doran play some extremely damaging football and I think its pretty harsh to say suni is better than them.

clearly our juniors are UNDER ACHIEVING.

Gone are the days of Mick jennings carving up defences and Shane Blackett belting it up until he cant breath.

Go the managers and coaches that have got no idea about what it is like OUTSIDE THE SQUARE.

IQ is measured by ones ability to work out problems. Clearly our managers are low in IQ.

Yes. That is the one. Bumped into Dean Springfield yesterday actually. Drollet got bitten by the grog monster in the off season after they cleaned up the GF.
