Apologies for being so negative on so much / many that are involved in the game I love / loved, but it has become a business now for so many involved at all levels, the tribalism and passion I had in me, that seems somewhat out of place these days. I remain a passionate Wests Magpies and Wests Tigers bloke and believe in our histories and story but geez the greater comp and the entire system including our operations in it are on shaky ground for me. The total disrespect our players, staff and management did for Tommy's memorial matches (twice!!!!!!!!!!!!!) just broke a large part of me. Im not sure I'll get it back- Wests Magpies would have fought, the early Wests Tigers would have fought, this lot I just dont think they get it.

Edit- the blow out scores and lack of effort and accountability for this lack of effort whilst still getting very good pay packets just does me in. Packer bludging for years, Mbye not busting a gut, etc, etc. I know Im now getting into the category of 'old fart' but for christs sake the days when league paid a pittance, they played for passion, the club and the guernsey whilst holding down a regular weekday job seem like good days to me.
The bolded bit. Full stop.

My interest is almost non existent, to cap
off the Tigers doldrums, the current state of the competition is a joke, this year there are two teams out of 16 capable of winning the comp, some of the results this weekend, not to mention the shellacking dished out in the games centrepiece with NSW entirely dominant, the game has almost become unwatchable. Watching most of the teams is like watching the women’s comp, BORING!

Got to say if todays match is a blow out with little to no effort, and Maguire makes bugger all changes for next week, that will have about done me for this lot. Not sure why they should expect me as a supporter to remain passionate and give a stuff when they the players and coach dont.

That will do me until something changes- either new coach or an absolute clean out of the squad with players publicly told to go and look elsewhere included any contracted player into next year and beyond that is not performing as well as the coach.

Effort, trying, fight and pride in the guernsey will save my caring about this lot, anything less, nope.

PS I dont expect to win, I just want to see effort, application and pride.

There’s little accountability in the higher official echelons because to stand aside means admitting defeat and/or incompetence or draws some other adverse inference.

The procurement of sheens to help sort out the mess is a de facto admission of problems but within the existing structure. It is very interesting. Cat amongst the pigeons?

Just how much power and control he is given remains to be seen.

The test will be when he inevitably has to challenge Madge and other officials, which he undoubtedly will.

He is too sharp and firm of mind to be used as a patsy, he’s financial and has a massive personal following anyway. He will do his best.

He’s our best hope at the moment.

Tim arrives at a time well suited for his reception and for wielding influence.

The hiring of Tim Sheens epitomises everything that is wrong with this club. We are stuck in the past though instead of learning from past mistakes we embrace them as a way forward.

I'll add, Trent Robison doesn't look like the supercoach he is made out to be when a few of his "stars" are sitting on the sidelines. Bellamy didn't really take NSW to any highs when he coached them for 2-3 years. There is nothing wrong is Madge or what he is expecting, the cattle just isn't up to it.

Actually, if you look at Craig Bellamy's rep coaching record it makes for pretty poor reading;

12 games total - 3 wins/9 losses

Country Origin - 3 games for 1 win
NSW Origin - 9 games for 2 wins

If Tim sticks to the pathways job, he and the club should benefit, but if he wants to get involved with the NRL side uninvited, I can see big problems.

With respect comrade, our rusted-on are deciding which coloured Otto bin to chuck the jersey into ….or do they burn it?

I hope Tim takes full control of as much of the nrl side of things as he possibly can.

With regard to the anti- sheens brigade, logic dictates that we do not know what he will bring until he’s thrown into the contemporary nrl vortex.

This is a new game, a frightening era for us in particular, with only complete basket cases below us and we may beat them to the spoon yet.

From where I’m standing, we need change of some kind.

We need to have a go at the official levels.

The wrong decisions are being made at the office.

The leadership just aren’t up to it.

That’s cool, I just think you would be flogging the wrong horse.
Sheen’s is not the coach, so I don’t think he should be anywhere near the NRL side unless invited?
You don’t want to give the players mixed messages, they can’t handle what they got now.

I kind of see it the other way.

The players can’t handle the Madge message, so Madge may use Tim as a resource to help him to lift them.

As much advice, insight and even direct player involvement to ensure we turn up.

Madge is a very honest guy, he would admit some culpability in our current dilemma. No one is questioning his commitment and effort. I’m not. I like him. He’s just not getting thru to the extent he would like to.

Its too much for him right now and he should succumb to ideas and listen up. Share the f**king load of the misery that is coaching us.

A helping hand and shoulder to cry on when we “phone it in” ( although he could drown Timbo).

Cant take any pride in failure anyway.

Anyway it’s up to us to save this round for the entire nrl from being a complete abomination and historical Uber farce…

Disclaimer: Some of the things Madge has done I disagree with. For example I think not building around Doogie at 5/8 is a long term error.

Especially when we are trying to ship Mbye to Siberia.

I’m not sure what they expect out of Sheens.
The poor old fella spends most of his day looking for his teeth and trying to work out which AV chanel Foxtel works on.

We appear to disagree on a few things, but again, if Sheens is invited or asked an opinion, I think that is great, just not barging in and trying to take over.

I think AD will make a great centre but we have improved greatly with Mbye at 6.

I lost my care factor a lot after the win in 2005. Being a Balmain supporter and having to go through the disappointment of 88 and 89, in particular 89, and then the debacle the club had become, I'd given up on ever seeing a premiership and after we got it, it was mission accomplished.

Don't get me wrong, I still want us do well, win more comps and make the semi's regularly but it just isn't that important anymore.

The competition isn't an even playing field and the rules force us to overpay mediocre players, who in turn cop their coin and play like they don't care. Either that or they just can't cut it. For us to improve and be a top level team we need to lie, cheat and steal in every aspect of the game there is. We also need to find our version of Uncle Nick.

Do you really think the current coaching staff are doing anything different son?

If sheens turns up in a wheelchair and with a priest performing the last rites at training, so long as we play better, I don’t care.

Mbye will be shoveling snow in Vladivostok this time next year

Hastings straight into the centre’s I’d say.

IMO Doogie is wasted in the centre’s. Like driving a Ferrari up to the local shops to buy a six pack of snail rolls.

Mbye is having a shocker, but he is not alone there.
