Only reason why we won the second half was because Canterbury made replacements & just wen't through the motions.

Take out Burt & Pearsons mistakes & Canterbury maybe wouldn't of scored a point.

geez pearson ran slower than an unenthusastic turtle at a packed star trek convention. however, cannings will be good once he starts controlling the ball

I've never been so disappointed to a start of the season in a long team. Especially when your team has got beaten by 40 points. The forwards were ordinary, take Cayless and Hindmarsh out of the team and it couldve been 60 plus. The props were very ordinary, Pearson and Vella. Pearson was too slow, wasnt making the impact he couldve had. And Vella kept missing tackles and was useless in attack. If the props arent making the impact, then its time to put Cayless back to front row. Cannings made a few good runs, but his handling with the ball is a bit ordinary something he needs to work on.

The problem with tonights game was Parramatta hardly had any set play. Dykes was either at dummy half or in the centres on the last tackle, mind you he did have a good second half. Morris was kicking half the time, when he's playing hooker. Plus whats the point of putting Wagon at 5/8, where he doesnt pass or kick, or do anything. Next week put Dykes/Witt at half, Witty will certainly make a difference next week. Another thing, twice Dykes was making line breaks, and yet NO ONE was in support. If Brett Hodgson was playing he wouldve easily backed up Dykes.

Jamie Lyon was caught in difference most of the time, he had no support from his wingers. Thats definatley something to work on next week.

I just hope a lot will improve next week, but with the sort of coaching from Brian Smith, I think this will be a long and hard 6 months.

How did the so called 'Big Power' forward team get out muscled?? Just another reason why Smith has to go. He has lost all sense of reality ever since his unbeatable team was beaten in 2001!!

Our go forward is good....but our defense on the fringes is just pathetic!!!.

Our centre's where also shown up alot tonight.....very much including Lyon.

Agree on the Go Forward. As u say, the 'Edge' defence went missing big time. But what can u expect when you choose 5 wingers in your back line. Wingers are knowbodies, anyone can play wing, you dont put wing class players in the Centres and at Five-Eighth. Ridiculous.

There is no way you should be taking aim at Peterson for tonight's performance. While he wasn't perfect in defence, he was better than Killer whose defence was directly attributable to the opening two tries. He was out of position when Tonga went in and then fell of Anasta. Sonny-Bill created havoc but his clean busts were attributable to defensive errors from the likes of Vella..

I think Peterson is too unreliable for first grade as well, but there are about ten players who played worse than Peterson tonight and his centre partner was one of them...

On Austar, it appeared that parra stacked the defensive left to cope with hank Williams, leaving Killer on his pat malone to mark Anasta and Hughes.

Did anybody at the game notice that Kativerata left his winger outside him almost EVERY play? Breaks were made outside him at least two or three times, but not only that, so many times he looked like he was marking the centre rather than the winger. It was shocking.

Petersen didn't play too well but Jamie Lyon was worse. His defense was terrible, both positional and tackling. Just because he's an international doesn't mean he's immune to criticism, he was ordinary tonight, very ordinary, in every facet. At least Petersen didn't give up and worked hard in attack for the two late tries.

Burt as a fullback was a shocker, way too passive in defense. He'd wait for the guys making a break to get to him and force him to make a move, rather than force the attackers to push the ball. The chip over the top he should have got to first, and every time a line break was made he'd drop straight back, not to mention his sideways running only to get hammered and drop the ball. Back to the wing for Burty I have to say.

Vella was useless. I was hoping Smith wouldn't put him back on the park after his first effort. Two missed tackles, two tries. One was such a poor effort I don't think it even counted as a miss, more like a gentle caress. None of the pack could be bothered to get in there and work it out from our own line, leaving Kativerata to make useless dummy half runs (if you aren't good at something, don't do it!), then Petersen, Morris and co. to work it out from the line.

Hindmarsh was solid as always, every tackle he seemed to be there. Same with Cayless, the sin bin was harsh but deserved, other than that he was good out there, Cannings did some nice things too.

Dykes played a pretty good game for a guy in a side beaten by 30+. Towards the end when the dogs pack tired he really came into his own, if our pack can get it together and wear the opposition down without giving up 42 points Dykes will be dynamite for us this year.

I say go back to the standard backline. Ash Graham when he comes back, until then, persist with Burt. Then have Grothe, Lyon, Vaealiki, Petersen. Kativerata is dead weight, Petersen belongs on the wing. He did make a lot of tackles out there tonight, unfortunately he missed a few as well. Luckily he wont match up against Sonny Bill Williams every damn week. Then again, Vella fell off that bloke too...

That hurt tonight though, and it should hurt all Parra supporters. Why would you come out and say 'I told you so'? Why would you predict a loss for the side? Is that something to be proud of, you tipped your team to get done by a lot this week? While it may not be smart, a little blind faith now and then in supporting your side doesn't go astray. You seem to be enjoying trashing the performance of the team rather than realising if we keep this up for 26 rounds, footy ain't gonna be much fun this year.

Keep Dykes at half. i reckon he was our best player and was anybody else responsible for any of our breaks or any of our decent attack?
