No more a joke with Gidley as captain. Barrett and Gallen both have more experience at the job. Gidley has only been made the Knights captain since Buderus left.

As a captain he certainly didn't have a great game in the first Origin.

Well he made the team and apparently was wanted last year. That said he is a better option as captain than Gidley.

Gallen's team has better form over the last 5 weeks than the Knights.

And he's more experienced at Origin level than Gidley - AND has performed better at that level too.

I wonder, if Gallen was made captain would that mean he didn't give away so many stupid penalties? Doubt it...

You honestly think the selectors would have been sensible enough to pick Stewart over Gidley???

For some reason it seems Gidley is the crown prince of NSW league this season (and last).
Stewart was 0% chance of starting ahead of him, even though you, and I, can clearly see that Stewart is the better option at FB in the modern game of rugby league.

If Brett Stewart wasn't out for the season with injury I highly doubt that Gidley would have been made captain in the first place. It is likely that Stewart would have been the NSW fullback and Gidley would have been chosen on the bench. It seems that the captiancy just landed into Gidleys lap. As for the next few seasons, Stewart should be fully fit and Hayne after playing a full year at fullback will be putting there hands up for the fullback spot, does that mean that NSW have to pick Gidley as their fullback soley because he is the team captain? To be honest I can't see Gidley being captain after this series and feel that the NSW selectors should look to give the captaincy to someone like a Farah for the future stability of the team.

Yes. But then they would have stuffed it all up by playing Gidley as a 5/8
