The fans made pretty clear they'd rather the club be squeaky clean than bend the rules. The rules state that TPAs can't be paid as an inducement to play for any given club. If we are organising TPAs for players to play for us then we are breaking the rules - something the fans don't want.
I mean we are moving away from accepting any or having anything to do with them.

Its got absolutely nothing to do with the fans Poo, absolutely nothing.
You are always desperate to blame your fellow fans for everything poo man.

Those aren't TPAs, it is the Marquee Player Allowance. If we give ours to Hayne it means we have to take it off whoever else was going to get it.

Firstly, how do you know the details of Hayne's contract? Was his salary officially published, with how much money is coming from where?
Secondly, how do you know what Parramatta are doing with their marquee allowance distribution for this season and next? Is that publically available information?

Thirdly, and for the record....... this is the rule.....

$600,000 - Marquee Player Allowance - any or all of the Top 25 players at each club can share in payments made by club sponsors seeking to use a player's intellectual property. These may be guaranteed in the playing contract by clubs.

And as I said in another thread, there's no reason why Hayne's manager can't get out and organise him TPA's anyway and for Hayne to accept a lower offer from us. For $7-800 k off our salary cap, he'd be a bargain.

It's funny, if you added Hayne to our squad for the coming year or 3, where does he fit? I'm not real sure. Well actually, I'd have him at centre if we've still got a squad with Guth, French and the others we've got on the books for the next couple of seasons. I'm no longer convinced that adding Hayne to our team for 2018 and beyond gives us any better chance of winning a comp.

I'm torn between signing the most talented player I've ever seen, when he felt like it, opposed to keeping the core of the young blokes BA is putting together for a chance at long term success.

I would err on the side of caution and pursue BA's plan TBH.

It's a No to JH from me..... But if we went down that road, I'd live to see what happens by the same token...

I know it's got nothing to do with the fans - the club no longer answers to the fans, which is good. The fans won't lose their f**king jobs because of anything the footy team does.

But the fans also made clear they don't want us breaking the rules, so they better not f**king complain when the club refuses to do so, Green River Eel you f**kwit.

Given we're allegedly under the cap a great deal this year I'm sure we're not using our MPA this year, but if we're recruiting for a genuine title tilt next year then I'm sure we intend to use it, just as we would intend to use the vast majority of next year's salary cap.

As for Hayne's contract, if he is getting paid directly by a club sponsor then it would absolutely be the MPA or else it would be illegal. Merkins made a big song and dance about it when Hayne signed with the Titans (about his TPAs from a club sponsor) and other knowledgeable merkins pointed out that it was the MPA at work, rather than unfair TPAs that clubs not run by the NRL didn't have access to.

True, but there's also no reason he can't just accept a lower offer from us whether his manager organises TPAs for him or not.

Really? How do you know this that makes you so sure?

There you go again. You're sure, but honestly, you wouldn't actually know.

More inside knowledge.

That's another discussion altogether.

The club listens to me i can promise you that, Bernie had a dribble of poo running down his leg after the last time id finished reading him the riot act.
Youd have a ripped and prolapsed anus after i spent 5 minutes whispering in your ear, you syphilitic little flea, poo.

Pou demands evidence from others, but uses information from other forum posters when suits. Ironic or classic Pou? I'm torn.
I never demand evidence from others unless I'm taking the piss out of the evidence demanders. I'm actually not a big fan of the appeal to authority.

Everything we post here is our opinion, and sometimes we can link to somebody else's opinion to support our own (though most rugby league opinions available on the internet are worth f**k all). The only thing that is really worth anything, regarding external support, is stats and video evidence. And both of those are less than completely reliable - statistics aren't self-interpreting, and video only shows a small sample of what happens on the field. There is nothing on YouTube showing a compilation of James Maloney's missed tackles, for example.

So no I don't demand evidence from others, because the evidence available is either limited, erroneous, or open to interpretation.

And last time i looked TPAs were not breaking the rules, are TPAs against the rules now?
You'll have to fill us in on the new rules you bum burgling little choad.

Because we're under the cap, like I just said.

No but I'm able to make an assessment at least as good as yours. Until today you had never even heard of the MPA.
More inside knowledge.
No, just Occam's Razor. Why would the NRL administered Titans break the TPA rules when they could just follow the ones they enforce?

So, you're still not sure.
Thanks.
