Look how gutho went when he 1st arrived here coming off his 1st ACL.

It took him half a year to get going so i think this will be similar

Maybe, maybe not! Don't forget he came to the eels as a veteran of 5 NRL games and was playing a unfamiliar role on the wing. He pretty much started showing form once he was moved of the wing.

Greenberg will love the timing of this.

You can’t blame Hayne for thinking that the storm had blown over.

https://thenewdaily.com.au/sport/rugby-league/2017/12/20/jarryd-hayne-rape-case/

......
NRL star Jarryd Hayne has been sued for alleged rape in a civil lawsuit filed in California.

San Francisco newspaper The Mercury News reported that a “Ms V” alleges Hayne engaged in non-consensual sex with her in December 2015, during his time with NFL side, the San Francisco 49ers.

The case is a civil suit, not a criminal matter. The plaintiff attempted to bring criminal charges but the local District Attorney’s Office rejected it on the basis of insufficient evidence in October 2016.

Hayne denied the allegations in a statement through Madison Marcus Law Firm on Wednesday afternoon.

“Mr Hayne unequivocally and vehemently denies the allegations which are the subject of the civil complaint,” the statement said.

Mr Hayne previously addressed a complaint made to the District Attorney’s office in the County of Santa Clara, California in 2016 and the District Attorney did not proceed any further with the matter due to insufficient evidence to substantiate the allegations. Mr Hayne provided all reasonable assistance to the District Attorney with that investigation.”
.....

At least there is a precedent that if damages are awarded against him, the NRL will do nothing if he elects not to pay.

Not blaming Hayne, it's the media who will keep this in the spotlight. Hayne followed procedure which was over a week ago and the media release it today.

I'm not too well versed on the media around the world but when it comes to sport, most other sports talk about sport, highlight sport and show sport. Our media are pretty much the A Current Affair and Womans Day of sport.

The 24 hour media cycle in the developed world means that this sort of shit happens in most sports. There is only so many sport related things you can focus on before you run out of 'stories'.

A little off topic but this was a perfect example yesterday, the day before our comp starts from the very company that has a huge interest in the game:

"A RUGBY league icon’s stunning rampage terrified cops as he shrugged off six tasers to fight them after a high-speed car chase."

For starters I had never heard of the merkin & secondly it was in the UK.

Hayne is playing on Sunday so there will no doubt be articles about him on Monday in some form or another particularly from Foxspam or the DT

Some info re. Hayne's defence:

"The Daily Mail obtained court documents with Hayne alleging that the woman consented to sexual activity and was "not injured at all." He has asked for the sexual battery suit to be dumped.

The 30-year-old also alleged in court documents filed on March 1 that the woman 'consented to all actions that took place, including all actions she now claims were non-consensual.'

He claimed that 'JV' followed him out of the bar after a night of drinking in December 2015 and even booked the Uber to take him back to his place.

He said 'JV' had a cordial conversation with his friend in his apartment the following morning and she left of her own volition and "did not report, show or claim any injuries to anyone after the alleged incident."

In her claim lodged in December last year, 'JV' claimed Hayne had taken her home from the bar despite the pair having 'minimal interaction' that night. She alleges that she passed out heavily intoxicated in the car and has no recollection of hos she ended up inside his place.

She awoke next morning naked next to a "pool of blood"in "significant vaginal pain" that she still suffers from today."
