Hayne signs with Gold Coast

can someone contact the eels and ask if hayne has been cleared and put this simpleton to bed
He can't have been. It's after June 30.

If you weren't such a simpleton you could read the rules that state clearly the new club has to ask the old club for a clearance before June 30.

Anyway I thought the line was he didn't need to be cleared. Which is it?

The real loser in all this is Lou Goodwin.
Last night on NRL Rookie he chose to sign with Raiders over Titans.

The rules apply to registered players. He is not one. He is not a currently registered NRL player. The NRL do not currently have him on their register as a player. If you look on the NRL player register his name won't be there. He was de-registered. He's not registered.

I can repeat the same point over and over again too. Difference is - mine is true.
And the clearance rule has nothing to do with him being registered this year. Nothing.

So you might think your shit is true but you're just parroting the bullshit coming from Greenberg. It doesn't make it true.

Show me where in the National Clearance and Permits Policy it says a player is exempt from the rule of he's not registered. Not only does it not say this, it specifically indicates this is not the case.

No. He meets the registration rules. He meets the contract rules. But he does not meet the clearance rules. He needs a clearance. And it's too late to get one.

Already addressed by the NRL this morning as people have been repeatedly telling you - https://www.nrl.com/nrl-welcomes-jarryd-haynes-return/tabid/10874/newsid/99875/default.aspx

You have it the wrong way around. He is not a registered rugby league player. He is not transferring from one club to another considering he has not been under contract to any rugby league club for 2 years. If I want an example to use, I don't recall any "clearance" being given by Canterbury to the Roosters when they signed SBW.

I don't think clearances apply in the way you are interpreting them. If they were, they would run afoul of restraint of trade laws and would have been struck-down like transfer fees were in the Tutty v NSWRL case.

No. I'll say it again, registration rules and contracts have nothing to do with clearances. It is irrelevant that he was not registered this year and it is irrelevant that he had no contract with Parra his year. Neither of those things void the need for a clearance from his old club. I can assure you the Roosters would have cleared SBW from the Bulldogs. And it's not a restraint of trade because clubs can't refuse to clear players unfairly. I'm not saying Parra shouldn't have cleared him or that they would have reason not to, I'm saying he cannot gain a clearance because it is after June 30.

Great signing to boost the Titans brand at a time they are climbing out of the mire of the last few years of mismanagement.

Will he win them a title? Very very doubtful. $2.5mill allegedly for two and a bit seasons. Pays to leave the NRL and come back!

You're the one espousing this self-proclaimed knowledge of all things clearance. So far all you've provided as evidence is your own idiotic words and arrogant responses. Show us all a link to prove your point. Hot tip is that you can't.

The Eels don't constitute the "old club" because of two points to the loophole.

1. The Eels released him from his contractual obligations. You may believe this is irrelevant by referencing that not all NRL players have contracts. But you have nothing to back this up other than the fact that you want us to think you know something we all don't.

2. The NRL de-registered him when he was released from his contract.

Show me this National Clearance and Permits Policy and I'll show you where it references registered players. That's how loopholes happen.

I've already quoted the policy.

And I didn't say not all NRL players have contracts. I said not all rugby league players have contracts.

Yet another NRL centric fanboi who doesn't know the game exists outside first grade.

Ya just know Hayne will carve up and knock out teams like the Raiders and Sharks in the finals to spite there fans who haven't had much finals success of late,it's almost a guarantee

Poor Sharks and Raiders fans gonna hate Hayne very soon lol
If he was that good he'd still be playing American Football.

Awesome. So your point is even more irrelevant to the situation.

Under the policy Hayne doesn't qualify as a 'player' as he is not currently registered.

Stick to sausage sizzles at the local Bunnings and meat trays on friday nights.

You're quite literally out of your league.

East Coast Tigers trying to apply amateur league club rules to the NRL.

I look forward to his blow up come finals time when one of the club's has to pick a reserve grader for their debut and he kicks and screams that they didn't play enough games for the team during the season to be eligible

It's the national rule. NRL, semi pro, amateur, it doesn't matter.

And if you're trying to compare it to qualification rules for finals, there is no national rule for that so it's not comparable.

Of course he's a player. He is playing rugby league, this weekend apparently, therefore he is a player under the rule.

f**k me now they're trying to say a bloke who plays rugby league is not a rugby league player. Even Greenberg wasn't stupid enough to put it like that.

You are denser than words can describe. If he plays this weekend it will mean that he is registered. Currently he is not. His contract would be on it's way to Moore Park at the moment where it will be registered.

Don't worry though. While you'll never get it, the rest of the world will. We'll move on with our lives while you'll continue to obsess over your inability to grasp simple legal terms masquerading as a higher knowledge of rugby league administration.

Just make sure you don't burn my onions. They go bitter when overdone. It's a fine balance.

If my team was competing for a top 8 position with the Titans & all of a sudden they picked up 1 of the best players the NRL has seen in the last 10 years, outside previously accepted guidelines, I'd be dirty.

Well that's my team the Warriors...but none of us on the warriors forum are dirty about it at all. Guess we are slightly more evolved humans.

Love watching the guy play and stoked he is back in the NRL. Saying that, I hope he has a dog's breakfast of a game this weekend.
