Hayne to the NFL???

I guess we'll have an answer to all those "NFL players are superhuman" elitests pretty soon.

Personally I think he'll kill it. He would be better than half the kick returners in the comp right now, and with some time to learn would make a good running back too. Having been to an NFL game recently besides linesmen they are no different size wise to NRL players so he won't be outmuscled.

I look forward to watching how this all turns out.

Wouldn't you just trial and then go quit if you got picked up?

Although I'm betting his fall back option is not the NRL.

weird - huge talent, but I am assuming he'll be a running back? Not much use for his range of skills

I just read his letter. He has been thinking about this for 24 months. He has been practicing. He has met NFL teams. He wouldn't be walking away if he wasn't at an NFL standard.

Sucks for Parramatta fans.

So random. But an opportunity in the NFL would be tough to walk away from.

Between talking to Reggie Bush during Origin and touring the Seahawks he must have received a decent tip from those who would know best that he can make it, otherwise I can't see him simply walking away from the NRL.

I am watching Fox Sports News now waiting for Hayne to come on. This could be the biggest bombshell to hit the game in a very long time.

But lets wait and see.

Hayne didn't join the NFL to be a kicker.....

If he's not going to be a kicker/punter then that is very different. The learning curve for ball playing positions is huge. I would be impressed if he makes it. If he does and he succeeds you can bet NFL teams will start looking at the NRL as a feeder league.

Devastated - put money on the spoon for us in 2015............we are no hope next year

But Hayne will be back - he won't make it (even though I hope he does)

Benji Marshal thought he would be great at rugby (even after playing it as a kid) and look how that turned out.

Benji and the Blues did nothing to help his chances tbh

That aside, I tend to agree - at best he'll be a bit part, and come back soon - but good on him for trying

What?! They're going to ignore the kids that have come through college systems and have proven ability to take gambles on guys from down under who have a few highlights?

People are really underestimating how good you have to be to make it in the NFL. Freak athletes are a dime a dozen and Hayne isn't even in the same league as the Calvin Johnson, Adrian Peterson, Lesean McCoys. The NFL is far more cut throat than the NRL.

As for Reggie Bush saying "oh yeah, he'd make it" what was he supposed to say? "Nah, he sucks. Good athlete but just doesn't know our game".

He's not going over there as a f**king kicker

Imagine if they had him play punter/kick returner though.... Instant cult hero!

He could definitely punt a gridiron ball a mile as well. He can kick a league ball 60+ on the fly.

meh...he'll be back. They always come back. Be it, Rugby, AFL or NFL.

Like all the others, chasing $$$. Pure a simple. No different to Burge$$ and $BW and all those that have gone before hand.
