Hayne played Right Centre for Australia too if I am not wrong. Chosen on the right wing but due to injury, played Right Centre but NZ were awful that day.

But then Reddy's footwork on the right hand side suit him

The thing is if Burt was playing like he was last season nobody would have a problem with him playing fullback, but he has had 17 rounds which is a fair crack at it and he has failed.

he says something along the lines "I'll play wherever Hages wants me to" & "I couldn’t get involved on the wing"
He says "I don't want to be on the wing." Quote, unquote... factual enough for you?
He says "I will have to have a talk to `Hages' and see what he can come up with to get me off the wing." Quote, unquote... or as you say, read the article again ffs.

Sure, Hayne goes onto trot out the general lines about doing whatever suits the team and Hages, but after the damage has been done by the other quotes. That's my big beef with him in thi sthread, apart from his lazy and petulant on field attitude, without any eveidence of form to balance it out.

stop using this as ammunition to fuel your agenda against him, perhaps if you were a little more factual your opinions wouldn’t come across as dogmatic.
 I don't have "an agenda against him" - I'm just commenting on a news story that is the subject of this thread. Opinions aren't agendas, and I don't give a f**k if you interpret them as dogmatic.

But I continue to reply only to the posts directed at me, and because I'm just gobsmacked people are seemingly happy with him making the public quotes he has made above, without having spoken to his coach first?

read the article again ffs.
he got suspended - deliberatly according to you. (yes i know im putting words in your mouth)
Which doesn't make you come across as balanced in discussions by any means... And you wonder why this has gone 15 pages - it's because of silly comments like that one, and ones by RJ trying to put words in people's mouths that aren't there, just to evade the issue at hand.

I've said the action that lead to Jarryd's suspension was stupid and childish, and he deserved to be outed. Very different to saying he went out there to do it deliberately? What's your "agenda" in making that comment I wonder :rolls:

and you want him dropped?

drop half the team if thats your standards.
I've said I'd drop Hayne for disciplinary reasons, not a judgement on his form. Nothing to do with "standards and half the team. Despite the words you and others try and put into my mouth, like hypocrisy .

In my opinion Hayne doesn't deserve a shot at fullback on form. But I'd personally drop him to Wenty based on discipline, to teach him to keep his mouth shut for the sake of the team. Kapeesh?

That sums it up perfectly really, what other player in any other team be given 17 rounds of fail and still be picked?

exactly, playing favourites, why shouldn't be accountable liek everyone else?

I guess cause he's nice bloke and all, does stuff off the ball too...

He also signs autographs and is nice to talk too

All of U guys really need to get over this.
Find me some quotes where people have said ANY player deserves to be in the squad because they are nice... go on..
Some people seem to clash posts in their heads where people talk about a good fan experience and then seem to decide that everytime someone stands up for that player they are only doing it because they are nice...... it's old and tiring

But, surely Hellsy, can you see why people like these guys think like this?
I'll give you an example.
Has Jess ever said anything bad about Ben Smith's poor defensive options, or lack of leg drive or speed?
When a lot of the time all they ever see is love hearts.............makes it a bit hard to fathom whether the opinion is not in fact an infatuation.
Don't shoot bullets at me - I'm just stating one example as a reply to your statement, and not having a shot at anyone myself.

and since when does NOT criticsing a player deem that they should be in the team because of their niceness???????

And thats my point
People like her should be allowed to think as they wish and not be brought up indirectly in random threads in the way it happens... if you know what I mean?
I know several players she doesn't particularly like at all but she never bags the sh*t out of them anywhere..... not that there is anything wrong with constructive bitching after a bad loss   Hell knows I enjoy it!!!!

There has been a number of people try to bring in unrelated topics in their responses in this thread, perhaps as some way of avoiding discussing the issues raised by the article in the first post?

Makes for a long and boring thread to read, but I guess everyone sees things in their own special ways, for their own (often unrealised, and usually unstated) reasons...

Fullback is a spot you have got to get right, it is a key position. I'd mix Burt and Hayne around a bit. Give then both some freedom and a go at it. I really think we are planning for next season at this point and the question should be who will be fullback next season.
Hayne has far more potential and his form has been about not being able to inject himself at centre more than anything. Burty has been hot and cold.
We should drop the shackles for the rest of the season and see were that gets us. The one out stuff stinks and we are losing anyway.

That's a bit harsh on yourself, e4l.

I'm not going this week.
Why? - it's too easy to watch it on tele, I went on Sunday and spent $100 to see them play like girls, and I pick and choose the games I go and see. I'm happy to pay and see them play every week if I can see some effort involved, but it ain't happening, and I don't earn between $100 000 and $400 000 for 9 months work every year so am not in a position to afford it all the time.

Maybe, just maybe, if they'd busted their arses for us last week, I may have busted mine to get to this weeks game.

TBH, I couldn't really be f**ked paying for something that I can still see live, that I'm already paying for, at home.

If they want more of us to go and watch them, prove it to us.

Fair enough, well reasoned and worded. I can respect your opinion, even though it differs from mine.

I think the phrase in bold is a much more urgent problem to find a cure for though... and that's where we need the real difference.

It's a problem that bugs me. We could have Lockyer at fullback and it would make little difference, simply because our pack isn't really up to it.

Incidentally, notice how the pack isn't really a "pack" - when was the last time the forwards went hunting for the ball in defense looking to hurt someone as a pack?

Little coincidence that we did well, then...

The Grand Final Qualifier in 2007 is the last time I remember us doing it. Our pack was brutal, a picture of concentration (except for a few dumb lapses) and a true pack; they got there in numbers, hit hard and fast and took strong hit-ups.

Twelve months later and it's like they're all scared of getting hurt.

Seriously, I'm going fishing. When they decide to grow a heart and least compete then I'll pay to watch them. Im not wasting money on lairs who don't turn up with heart or passion. Something is fowl at the club and Im not blaming the coach. Senior players such as Cayless and Hindmarsh DON'T or are to scared to set the xample for the younger ones. We need a Petero!! Now that's respect.

Do you honestly believe that is worth dropping him over?!

You'd make a mighty dictator. Well done.

I don't have "an agenda against him" - I'm just commenting on a news story that is the subject of this thread. Opinions aren't agendas, and I don't give a f**k if you interpret them as dogmatic.

...and therein lies the problem. If we were conversing face to face, you wouldnt have that attitude. Or you probably wouldnt get far in life.

Dogmatic: Characterized by an authoritative, arrogant assertion of unproved or unprovable principles.
