He's in court today, already his lawyer has identified the alleged victim as a pathological liar with claims the call to police was a prank and that she had to follow through with the complaint. Also suggested the mark on her was from falling on the bed.

The court case will continue on February 1st next year, while the AVO application is being heard this arvo.

Hazem El Masri: Former Canterbury Bankstown player pleads not guilty to domestic violence charges

Hazem El Masri's lawyer said his client's wife admitted in a recorded phone call that allegations of domestic violence against the former Canterbury Bankstown NRL player were false.
El Masri entered a plea of not guilty in Bankstown Local Court to assault occasioning actual bodily harm and common assault against his 25-year-old wife.
The charges relate to an incident with his second wife earlier in the week.
His lawyer, Chris Murphy, told the court the complainant was a compulsive liar, had a history of psychiatric issues and had made false accusations in the past.
Mr Murphy said El Masri recorded a phone conversation in which his wife admitted the complaint to police was a crank call but she had to go through with it or she would be fined.
He said his client was suffering from a loss of reputation and wanted the matter dealt with as soon as possible.
Mr Murphy said there would be 20 witnesses called by the defence.
Lawyers for the prosecution told the court the case cannot return for a hearing until February because the police have seized the phone with the recorded conversation.
El Masri was previously an ambassador for White Ribbon Australia.
The 39-year-old is on conditional bail.
The case will return to court in February.
