Its either the beginning of the end or hopefully a new start for the club.
I still think they should have owned a few apartments or commercial side to generate some type of income. Unless there is a brothel in the Leagues club I don't know how it will make money.

Surely we won't employ naive or incompetent or snake oil salesmen football execs in the future.
No more paying huge sums for the next SBW,no more pricks from a jab or vice versa, no more special TPA accounts to keep the lads happy, no more paying to coaches before due date.

Just transparency and capable investment decisions and a refurbished Leagues club well patronised and we should be cooking with gas.The bistro is a classic example of what can be done.
Have we got ourselves a new CEO yet?

Salary cap is irrelevant mate, completely funded by the NRL.

Zappia raised the 13k break even issue yonks ago.
The crowds haven't really got any greater for years. If a Premiership couldnt raise the crowd attendance average, and keep it there, I don't know what else will.

The only thing that I think can raise crowds is better facilties as in extra grandstand seating. Especially if you want females to attend games.

A lot of women won’t cop standing up particularly if they only have a passive interest to the game and are only attending because of their husbands interest.

High expectations of winning and attractive football is what brings in the crowds IMHO, I have seen this time and time again. Many people will accept whatever facilities you have if they believe they're likely to watch a winning team and a team that's enjoyable to watch.

The other factor is how many people are interested in the sport. This means developing kids interest from a young age, and them getting a taste for watching it in the flesh

It's a real issue. We can upgrade the stadium as much as we like but if people can't drive to the game or get public transport a bit closer to the ground, then they probably won't come in the numbers we'd like.
Part of this development was transport to and from the games which has been running for a while.
Buses from Carinbah, Wooloware, Miranda and Sutherland.
I know it may not be conventional for families ect but where there is a will there is a way.
There is plenty of parking in surrounding streets and the Car Park isn't gone yet. Pay $10 a year and secure your parking.
Or get the train and walk.

Don't disagree but people are lazy these days.

I get the train (~2 hours each way) and walk from the station but plenty of my mates who still live down there won't go if they can't drive and park relatively close.

The odd time I drive there isn't any parking close unless you get there early.

It is what it is I suppose.

Damned if you do, damned if you don't
I have been to, and been involved in sport all over the planet and believe me you can't please everyone.

If you think we have it bad, QPR's stadium is built on top of houses, there are about 70 streets surrounding and you can't park anywhere. They don't have a car park as it is in a housing estate.
You can park at a train station and risk your car being smashed up, stolen or broken into, and then you have to walk passed a number of gangs along the way.

Haha good old Loftus Road. It’s even worse that the team is going shithouse at the moment

To be fair though, English soccer fans are far more fanatical than your average NRL fan. Same as AFL fans from AFL states.

NRL fans are pretty shithouse in general.

Bottom line is everyone loves a winner. Just look at the crowd at the 2016 NRL Grand Final. (pssts where are they now)

Us old Sharks supporters, well we just love survival.

Question from the floor without notice. What's the cost for a bloke to go into a game these days. I know the price of food and grog is way over the top. I can see why it is hard for a bloke to take his missus and a couple of kids to the footy.

As far as I know, there's no reason why they can't take the money and buy completed commercial real estate elsewhere.

That's probably what they should be doing.

My point was the waste of money either through lack of talent knowledge spending a large sum on that guy who was to be the next SBW.Forgot his name, such was his impression.

I'd rather spending that amount on 2 up and comers with actual potential.Using the cap properly.

I’m still here me old mate!

Can’t get to the game on Saturday though with a birthday dinner for me missus.

The one thing that would get me going more consistently to more games is better facilities. You can always find street parking or get the train with bus is easy.

But try taking kids and sitting on your arse on the grass on the family hill, protecting your little patch with a rug, getting a wet arse, and getting your fingers trod in while trying to see around those f**king speakers is the pits. Seats everywhere with, where the hills are now, reasonable (GA) type prices will get me to bring the 3 kids regularly. And no way am I stumping up for seated membership for a family of 5 as it currently is...a mans gotta eat.

It’s why I don’t get pumping mills into this centre of excellence thing. They need to get people to the game and get more people going to the club. Invest in the ground and the club and you’ll get returns, but do it properly. That should be priority 1, 2 and 3.
