My thoughts in the game day thread really :D

Cant wait for Wicks V Perry II :D

They can get it on from the first minute, that was great stuff. Stuff Spud V Cheif, we have Wicks V Perry for a few years yet

Oh, you reckon you could add a 1-0 to the sig, Pumba? :)

I guess you could replace the its on with a 1-0 and the 0 being the donut :p

A huge amount of heart shown from the boys. The big thing from tonight is that they kept fighting for the full 80 minutes and have shown they wont be the whipping boys of the comp no matter what the critics have said.

Josh Perry giving away penalties - massive shock. Glad the headbutt was picked up but the forearm to the surrendered players head earlier did not...

Gonna be a great year, just wait until Cross comes in.
Have to watch the game again cause my little niece and nephew came down, what bits did watch showed a really passionate team effort, and they always looked confident in that they could win, Scotty Deureu(sp) was so pumped at the end in the interview, hes our new halfback with that f**king great field goal.
Good on you Fa'aso you have the heart of a lion and a bear, what a great try, the crowd are back too.
The Knights are back!

Hard fought win, Perry proving beyond doubt what a complete idiot he is. I would say without a doubt he cost Manly the game, and to top it he chose Wicks to headbutt!!!
I would like to see Dureau do more of the kicking close to the line I thought his kicks were far more threatening than any that Mullen put in from there. Karmawave I think we'll be seeing more of Dureau in firsts than you'll care to admit. He will get better and better as the weeks go by, he showed some class glimpses tonight, topped off with the field goal. Not a pretty game, but hey 2 points is 2 points.

Damn straight 2 points is 2 points. I agree that a few stupid penalties and errors towards the end of the game by Perry cost them the game. Hope he gets a few weeks for that head butt too.
Perry can f**k off. Had a good game last week but showed again tonight why we got rid of him.

A bit of early season poor handling - but the most heart shown by the boys in a few years.

The Scotty field goal wasn't as good as the 45 metre one he dropped to put away Newtown in the last seconds last year - but that was freakish.

Lulia might have lost that spot to Sau who was fantastic in NSW cup.

Well:
Played for 80 odd minutes.
Perry backed away from Wicks
Team is gelling real quick
Like that dude that scored
Knights have a halfback that has the goods, quite passionate and not scared to have a go!
Wonder how all the Smith knockers are feeling at the moment

Doesn't make for an impressive tipping effort this round, but I'll take that blow on the basis that we won a tight tussle against strong opposition. Ironically, the Knights actually out-Manlied Manly -- I thought we performed the simple things with far greater purpose than the opposition. They muscled up and forced us into mistakes, but it still wasn't enough. It's telling of the difference this team manifests compared with seasons gone by... when we've had a shocker in patches we've typically folded quicker than a deck of cards. But, this mob is hanging in there.

Not the greater performance you'll see from either team, but an appopriate tussle given the history between the two teams. I'm just happy to record a win. Manly could quite easily have beaten us with a couple of close calls going their way. That said, if we had a couple go our way we might have been in front sooner. It's a bit hypothetical.

Much like last week I thought our execution in attack was pretty poor. We had a buttload of possesion in the first half and it ammounted in f*ck all.

However our attitude was FANTASTIC. The defence is a million times better than last year. they scored all their points off the back of errors and rarely threatened us with ball in hand. Much like last week we didn't get discouraged when things went against us or when we bombed trys and we fought out the whole 80 mins.

I am so proud of how the boys are going and excited about what might happen once they actually gel, particuarly in attack. The other thing to remember is we have Simmo, Cross and Sarge still to return to the side and their arguably our best 3 forwards.

Gutsy effort from the boys. Our defence really held up even when the chips were down which IMO was our biggest failing last year. Richie F is an absolute gun and is worth his contract 3 times over.

The only let down for me was Lulia. He was average in defence (what was that falling over crap in the first half) and he lacked mongrel and confidence in attack. Not a great game from him.

mate, to be honest i think sarge will struggle to work his way back into the side given the way our current lot are playing. it was a genuine battle of the forwards out there tonight and it was our forwards that got us home. but yeah, with simmo and cross in the team the pack looks quite formidable at the moment.

what a great win - it's a completely different team this year. if/when the backline starts clicking and gelling properly we could surprise a fair few more teams.

I think another thing that impressed me was the fact we didn't really look that bad without Bedsy for the time he was off the field.

What an effort!! Our defence looks awesome and im sure our attack will take time but will get there no doubt. Wicks and Fa'aso are killing it off the bench!!

Alot of people saying it was a "controversial" win is utter rubbish.. The no try against Ballin was correct.. Watmough was within 10 of the play therefore NO TRY.

Good start to the season.. now lets see how we go on the road hopefully we be fine..
