Yeah I think Cook's runs from dummy half will be even more effective if he comes on fresh from the interchange when the opposition are already tiring. He will learn a bit from Farah, and then after Farah's 2 years, Cook might take over.
Straightshooting at its best.

Cook is a 2nd grader--we are best to play Farah for 80 & play a good forward off the bench!!
I disagree.

Cook will add a lot to us/another dynamic off the bench.

Madge wouldn't have re-signed Cook and offered him more of a salary to not play first grade.

Was Cook paid more money by Sths to stay??

Or did the Sharks & the Dogs have a change of heart??!!

If Cook is a 1st grader he is just an average one.

Has been the better player over the last 18 months. George needs a bit of a kick up the backside, he is one of the highest paid forwards in the game and if losing your starting spot to your brother doesn't fire you up nothing will.
Also shorter stints off the bench may help george find that impact his been missing these last 2 seasons
We finally agree on something lol.

Correct.

George has been more disappointing and Tom has been better.
Yes yes yes yes yes.
Gray is good on the wing too.
Correctamundo.
I've just heard that,as a big lad,he is tops with the little boys!! But not so great when the going gets tough!! The Panthers were quite happy to let him go!!!!
I agree. I think he's dodgy under the high ball and not up to it defensively.

He has to really lift at Norths and take his chance when it comes.
I'm not being grumpy!! Our best hope is for a player like Cody to have gained the confidence to take his game to a much higher level next season! If he & AR stay healthy & perform very well we will go OK.
We can't just rely on GI even though he is by far our best!!

Our signings are nothing very special & are players that other clubs didn't fight too hard to retain!!

Hopefully any potential that they have will blossom but I have my concerns.

One must realise the worst scenarios if one is not to be too disappointed!!
Douen I agree you're not being grumpy. You are just expressing your views.

You do make some good points too.

A lot does rely on GI, SAM, Cody, AR and Sutto. If injuries hit we are in big trouble.

I agree that Burns, Jennings, Faumino and Cherrington have to prove themselves.

Don't worry Doyen I have my concerns too brother.

Also we have to hope Farah doesn't stifle our attack.

We have many players that must lift:

AJ has been down on form.

Hunt, Gray and GOODWIN need to be consistent.

Turner must lift along with George.

Also Rochow and Cherrington could get injured without a hand laid on them.

He's better at left centre though. I'm pretty sure you said that Gray on the wing was poor at some point during the season.
I was just questioning Gray's body language and work ethic when the going got tough.

I don't know if Madge will play Gray on the wing or at centre.

But if fit I believe he will have Bryson there for at least the first 6 matches.

Same with Clark, I believe he will be there for at least the first 6 matches.

They are part of the leadership group and Madge will give them first opportunity.

Yes we paid him more. We upped his offer as the Sharks offered him 300k a season.

But we really wanted to keep him.

I disagree with you completely on Cook. He is better than Cam.

Yeah fair enough he had a bit of a poor patch during the season.

No one really knows, not even Madge. I just think on developing him further he should stay at left centre. It's his natural position and he's a player of the future and I'd rather him be comfortable there than a veteran like Goodwin.

I think Clark could even be outed from the team at some point if we get some good form from our forwards.

Did we up his offer? Sharks offered more short term but we were able to sway him with a long term deal. He would have had to weigh up going to the sharks, seeking a release, but if he lost out to the young gun hookers that sharks have then it's likely he would never recieve a decent offee again. With Souths he is guarenteed at least 3 years.
On souths part it was a pretty good negotiation. If farah fails they still have cook. If farah retires or goes to superleague at the end of next year then cook is already wrapped up (and they don't have to wait on the robbie will he/won't he that will happen at some point next year). If robbie is a success and sharks still want cook then instead of cook being a free agent he is contracted to souths meaning souths have a say in that negotiation and may be able to organise a trade or compensation.
The way souths have done it has been in an all bases covered fashion

I believe we upped his offer as Cook asked for a release to the Sharks.

We then moved quickly to tie him up.

We had to keep him happy.

Which we did by giving him a long term contract.
So we have him on 200k, sharks offer 300k for next year. We then offer him 250k for 2018 and 2019. That means he has the choice of more initial money, but also no long term guarentees. Plus there's going to a whole new club which has its risks in itself, you don't know if you'll fit into the culture at the place, cronulla have some young guns at hooker so there's a risk there, plus you have to get out of your initial contract.
Souths probably don't offer as much in the first year, but you at least have money and a first grade contract in 2018 and 2019

Gray excels on the wing.

He makes great metres too. Plus he is strong under the high ball.
Gray is way better at left centre as we all saw the last part of the year he was moved in from wing to centre where he was a gun and a real bull and handful
It's his fav position and he played all his junior football there
No reason to put him back out on the wing ,Braidon Byrnes is the prime candidate for that spot

I think Cody is only on $250K a yr for the next 3 yrs--I'd be surprised if the back-up hooker would get more than that!!

The Sharks supposedly were going to offer him $300K but withdrew!
They have a few good prospects already for hooker so decided they didn't need Cook.

Cook won't be on much next season.

But for 2018 &19 he will be on about 250k a season.

But you just said Souths upped his offer for 2017 to stave off the sharks
Show me where I said specifically for 2017???

I said we upped his offer/contract. I thought it was obvious that, that was for 2018 & 19. That's why I didn't mention the year initially.
