I realise I'm adding to this at the moment, but you know they have real time analytics available to them so they can track activity across social media and message boards/ websites.

The stories don't die down until the web traffic or social media "topics" stop trending upwards. The moment it does, a click bait headline comes out. If that doesn't generate an upward trend, they move onto the next "story"

True to form, after a press conference where the NRL CEO pretty much says "nothing to see here", the following day I see a headline of "Stunning $500,000 twist in Sharks’ cap crisis"

The next "story" can't be far away. In fact, the Aussie cricket team look like the next story.

Thank you!!

‘cause he’s a smug merkin.

Everything he says has a smart look on his face.

He’s so up himself, players must hate him as much as Rothfield.

He’s the 1 in the media I hate the most!
Actually Card I sent the talking sport team drop the the G yesterday and basically said that Paul Kent and Rothfield are a Cancer to the game of Rugby League, they constantly making up stuff as they go alone, They constantly bad mouth the game as if they could do better, Rothfield is supposed to be a Sharks supporter, who needs fans likes him. Just look at the way they handled this Salary cap issue..They didn't read it out...

That's all well and good ,however things can change a bit with reporters and media companies that have agendas other than just click bait.

I say take a leaf out of Storms book and go on the front foot with this stuff. Remember the Rodney Howe Masks ? Someone suggested Rothfield masks to throw the Shite right back at em.Every time they stick it to the Sharks stick it right back to them. The media companies and NRL have the agendas ,the "reporters'(I use the term loosely) are their Monkeys tossing Shite about like Monkeys do . Toss it back so they get covered in it too.

Rugby league is just a big pantomime with good guys and bad guys, crisis and drama. News journos just fan the flames. They know who they can bully and who they can't.

Thurston, Smith and Inglis = untouchable good guys to be praised. Fifita and Dugan = evil bad guys to be hounded.

Melbourne = well run club who produce talent. Sharks = evil cheats. Simple stories for simple people

This is a game. They don't care about Rugby League. They care about the game of clicks. Its eye balls on screens. The more noise and outrage the better. We, the public are just stupider for it.

Sit back, watch the footy and let the outrage merchants howl.

Hooper and his bummers are drowning in the fear this will go away.

They had been sitting on it for weeks..licking each others dicks that it would derail the club they detest.

But Greenterd saying its a minor discretion has them sweating. Hooper now trying to squeeze more juice out of the lemon.

Ha..squirm you sad f**k

I agree and self reporting and the ability to control the narrative is the first step. The statements from the club are quite different from the panic stricken reactice press conferences of the past.

Love ya work Freddy

Almost deserves its own thread

https://www.news.com.au/sport/nrl/b...b/news-story/e49c7ce00c994f8baf13d8ddadfc8467

“If you look at Cronulla, and let’s say it’s $250,000, then Brisbane have actually paid in third party, maybe an extra million … so who are the Sharks really cheating against?” the 46-year-old said.

“They’re cheating against the fact they can’t work it in a manner that someone like Brisbane or another club can work it in another third party program.”

Every time this comes up dumb bastards like hooper an Kent honk on about publishing players salaries as if that will solve the problem, how ?

It’s not going to stop the benefits post retirement.

They have ulterior motives, it’s just another bit of personal info they can use when they go after a player.

It’s obvious the only way to level the playing field and ensure there is no cheating is a points system

It’s been discussed before and I can’t see why it doesn’t get looked at seriously.

And independent panel can rate players on a scale of zero to 100, set a club points limit , clubs can pay what they like but the points will ensure they can’t stack their team.

I still think the NRL should pay the players direct from the yearly grant to each club.
Wouldn’t stop the 3rd party payments being subject to cheating but what would simplify one part of the cap so the auditors can concentrate on catching the cheats.
