Wow... fool. QLD did plan for the future... that's why they've created the legacy they have now. They piecked old heads like Lockyer, Petero, Price and surrounded them with young blokes like Slater, Inglis, Smith, Thurston etc among many others. You're living in a dreamworld if you think otherwise.
Queensland have never 'planned for the future'. Every year they pick their best 17 regardless of age. That's why they have such a mix of young and old, it's natural progression. A bloke holds his spot until someone better comes along.
NSW, will drop players for one mistake or lost game and then try to 'plan for the future', which fails. Then they drop half the team and start again, every bloody year.
yep. that's right. inglis, slater, smith, falau, etc.... were all established origin superstars with loads of experience before they pulled on a qld jersey. way to contradict yourself, braniac.
Where did I say that moron?
I said that when they were the best players available they got picked, regardless of age and experience, they are great players though so they come in at a younger age than most others. Even at a young age they were better players than others in their position, they deserved their spot, they weren't blooded for the future. It was just a coincidence that they had a good crop come in around the same time. If they were doing the NSW 'future plan' thing then they would've been blooding young props and leaving Lockyer out as well.
Like it looks like they blooded some young props this year, and people like you will claim in a few years that it was a deliberate 'future plan'. Fact is that if Price and Petro were available they would have been #8 and #10.
almost everyone of their players made their debut at a young age, established themself and became successful. if you win games there is no reason to make changes. that's why they stuck with them. and because they were young players that would form the base of a strong origin side in the future.
the next game is a dead rubber. qld went through this same thing when the blues won three series in a row. they threw in a bunch of young players (which you mentioned above) who gained exposure to origin, played together and are now one of the strongest rep teams ever.
but hey, who cares about winning the next series? as long as we do our best to win a dead rubber.
So did Inglis, Slater, Smith, Falau and co all make their debuts in game 3 dead rubbers?
Next series? if we throw a bunch of youngsters in to 'plan for the future' we won't be winning the next series, we won't win for another 2-3 years, if at all.
NSW have been doing the 'future plan' for several years now and it's not working. We need to pick the best 17 for every game, when a young bloke comes along that is good enough he'll earn spot. We shouldn't just hand them undeserved jerseys because they might be able to win in the future.
We've lost 5 in a row, we need to stop the rot. Win the next game, then win the series next year as well. After 5 losses in a row we shouldn't be planning for years down the track, that's stupid. We need to win the next series, and we won't win any series if we are constantly gutting the team for the future.
Let's let them win about 7 or 8 in a row, then our youngsters that we've thrown in might be able to win.
