What do people think will be No 1 this year?
Last year it was a given Franz Ferdinand would get it, but I don't know about this year...maybe Feel Good Inc???

I'd be happy with Feel Good Inc tbh, if only because it'd be the first ever rap track to take the gong, and it would be a boon for the almighty De La Soul. Actually their popularity has already spiked courtesy of the Gorillaz collabo - the upcoming Aussie tour is entitled the 'Feel Good' tour. Truth is De La have been making people feel good for nigh on 15 years now. Native tongues for life.

I'm going to give Blue Orchid a vote, but I reckon more people will vote for My Doorbell.

I'm also going to go for This Year (Mountain Goats), Camp Computer Loe (Datarock), Big City Life (Mattafix?), Josh Pyke song about the middle of the hill.

I hope Bernard Fanning doesn't get No 1, but Powderfinger fans do tend to vote in big numbers.

Its been a while since I voted - you never used to be restricted to 10 songs did you?

Its probably fairer now but so much harder to choose

The Skin Of My Yellow Country Teeth - Clap Your Hands Say Yeah
Jumpers - Sleater Kinney
Mushaboom - Feist
Helicopter - Bloc Party
Black - Okkervil River
My Doorbell - White Stripes
16 Military Wives - Decemberists
Wishbone - Architecture In Helsinki
Chicago - Sufjan Stevens
Ibi Dreams Of Pavement - Broken Social Scene

Tbh, it's not my top 10 songs of 05, it was obviously limited to what was available on the list.

Limited to the list? There's 800 odd songs there! Unless you're favourite song of the year was by Hilary Duff or Creek.

I'll go:
Gorillaz, Josh Pyke, White Stripes, Datarock, Mattafix, Mountain Goats, Franz Ferdinand, Handsome Boy Modelling School, Bloc Party and Beck.

Is 800 songs really that many?

Anyway, songs by The Clientele, The National, Wolf Parade, The Earlies, The Rosebuds and Stars would probably have made it. The Sufjan and BSS songs I chose aren't even my favourite on those particular albums.

You can pick any songs you want though I think, also surely the Earlies would be there.
You can vote for whatever you want, but I'd be wasting my vote if I voted for John Wayne Gacy Jr (which is my fave Sufjan song off Illinois) as opposed to Chicago. Same goes for Iron & Wine (Jezebel and Reins).

Hottest 100 is just another pretentious wank fest fron jjj whom still believe they are not commercial in any sense.
JJJ typifies the words "SELL OUT" and make Metallica look like saints!
