I just followed who my older brother followed. He picked the Eels because he was watching the 1984 GF and simply picked one of the teams to follow. He thought the Bulldogs were a bit grubby, so he picked the Eels.

After the GF, it was found out that some of the Dogs players were wearing illegal fibreglass shoulder pads. So not only was a love of one club born that year, a lifelong hatred of another was also born.

So your brother got you hooked on the Eels. Have you made peace with him yet?

f**k I'm glad I didn't follow other family members.

Mum is a Dragons fan, sister is Parra and other brother is Tigers.

Lived in Parra area from mid 1967,then we moved to the Penrith area in mid 1969.

Didn't followed league when in Parra, but started following the Panthers from 1969 and onward. Explains my spot spot for Parra.

The best part about have family that supports opposition is it makes win against them that much more fun with banter.

Roosters. I prefer to call them East Sydney Roosters (that's the best name for them nowadays-hope they go that way one day!) As a very little kid I watched the daytime grandfinal between Easts and Manly and was in awe of the Roosters guernsey. From then on they have been my team. (I even trialled for their Presidents cup squad and met Artie Beetson during the process.) To this day the hardest thing I've done! But yes it was the jumper for me. They lost the grandfinal but the jumper had me hook, line and sinker! Knights are my 2nd team as I live in Newcastle.
