watching over here in the uk - the 3rd game was dads army beat some less than ordinary blues (some who didn't even make an impression in uk superleague) then you go on to think the kangaroo team is selected from these origin teams and that new Zealand are now the dominant force at international level, where will the kangaroos select from origin? the nsw halfbacks would be eaten alive by nz England etc and the maroons are ready for their pensions, the kangaroos cant win test matches with fireworks and helicopters

^Kangaroos selection stemming from a couple of week Origin teams. It's a valid topic located in the correct place.

To answer the OP's question, the Kangaroos are doomed basically. It was always going to happen, and now that the time is here, it's an enjoyable time for international rugby league. I am proud of my country for saving rep footy as a whole.

Origin these days is a lot weaker than it was back in the day, despite the crowds and media hype. Quality wise, it's about the same level as City-Country was in the early 90s.

Origin is now the 4th and 5th best rugby league teams in the world battling it out to see who's the 4th and 5th best rugby league teams in the world.

Origin will always be a spectacle just because it's a massive grudge match, but I have to admit I felt like I was just watching an average NRL match in the first 10 minutes just due to the errors and the number of soft penalties the refs were awarding both sides.

It didn't feel like an intense or high quality match, and when Qld got a roll on it ensured the game was never going to reach any great heights.

In terms of the pure intensity and quality of footy this year's ANZAC Test was easily superior.

Yes because that 3 game winning streak sure is massive!

It's technically a 5 match winning streak. 3 wins over Aus, 1 over England and 1 over Samoa.

That's actually a longer winning streak than QLD have had since 88-89.

Just sayin.

Well, England are a virtual minnow - so we don't count them anymore :p .

Gotta say, I'm pretty excited to see your boys take on the Lions this year - pretty pissed it couldn't have been an Australasian tour as was originally planned.

This is getting a bit over the top.

Like Dave Klemmer hype.

NZ have one one ANZAC test in 3000 years and suddenly Dean Whare is the greatest player that ever laced on a boot.

One ANZAC test - the time when they're generally at their weakest - but 4 TN/4N trophies and a World Cup over the past 10 years. Not bad really - that's a title every second year in an sport that doesn't even have internationals every year.

From 1 to 17 in your mind they are now pretty much the greatest team that has ever laced on a boot.

Dean Whare and Jason Nightingale have no peer in the history of the game.

Yeah well I certainly would have liked to have played Australia again at the end of the year. I just hope that none of our players are pulled out of the tour by aussie clubs.

England have a decent side and it will be a challenge to beat them at home. Their pack is arguably better than Australia's IMHO.

Name a better centre than Whare. GI doesn't count.
Hodges?
Chambers?
Morris?
Jennings?
Don't make me laugh.

Whare is the best all-round centre in the game. Great in defense, great in attack. He even makes David Simmons look good. All of a sudden he's scored 100 tries. Who ever expected that to happen? Whare accelerated that achievement for him.

You obviously missed the part where they won all those big games when there was actually a title on the line, rather than some weird pre-Origin test with no meaning.

I'm not saying they're the "best ever" - just pointing out that like it or not the Kiwis have actually been more successful than the mighty Kangaroos over the past 10 years. The Kangaroos have beaten NZ more often, sure, but the Kiwis have more games between the two when an actual CHAMPION was being decided.
