When you put things into perspective rugby league isn't a hard sport to be calling especially compared to AFL, I watch the AFL once every now and again and that sport would be a nightmare to call, firstly there's 18 guys out there, there's a lot more ball movement and the players roam a lot more, yet their commentators actually do a better job getting names right and are a lot more insightful.

Turn the volume down with the tv on surround sound and you can hear enough of the crowd and hardly anything of Rabs . . . nowhere near as bad as the nauseating Warren Smith

Fact is someone like Andrew Voss can get the names right, make the commentary sound interesting and give information about the players that is actually insightful. Banter with Gus during a grand final about the colour of his tie is the ultimate show of how unprofessional Ray has become.

Questions have to be asked as to why a 70 yr old man was signed to a 5 yr deal to call the game.

Yes Richie Benaud is 100 yrs old, but he gets the names right, does not talk CRAP when he commentates and does not get dragged into BS talk like Rabs does.

Channel 9 had an ageing legend, with a ready made 40 year old understudy who was slowly doing more games.

Suddenly the understudy insults rabs best mate hadley with a blasé statement

Then they give voss' job to Hadley ?

Voss sues Hadley, Hadley pays voss $100k defamation

So now we get 2 bumbling 60+ year olds calling nrl.

Who are rich enough not to do any research into players Etc

And nine have no succession plans going forward

Another thread has presented mountains of evidence that Ray Warren is past the level necessary to be the top caller of rugby league. The classic example of many presented was when on a Sunday he stated that Wednesday (State of Origin day) was only two days away. Gus Gould did not correct him because it would be too embarrassing for the old codger.

Ray Hadley brings relative youth, lots of energy, and a radio caller's excitement to the television call. Most important he doesn't take attention away from the game with irrelevant pseudo-critical personal banter, the way that Warren does with Gould. This habit of Warren and Gould makes the audience think that the game isn't all that important. Ray Hadley sticks to issues that are related to what we are watching on screen.

Ray Hadley is also willing to call a spade a spade. He speaks truth to power. He is not afraid of anyone.

We need Hadley to replace the ageing Warren as soon as possible.

Great Warren Smith as the lead caller. Him and Andrew Moore are both great! Gilbert is no good, Hadley is going downhill and Rabs, although I used to love his calls, is too. Need new blood at 9 and that doesn't mean Gilbert. Even get Braybrook on there if you have too. Not Hadley though.

Andrew Moore is understudy to Hadley. Nice guy. But he cannot be promoted above Hadley, who is one of the most powerful voices in Sydney radio.

Aside from being an absolute f**kwit, Hadley is also a woeful commentator. He should stick to vilifying minority groups and bullying his co-workers and spare us his monotonal, nasal commentary.
