How long in Pura for Clarke?

I didn't say it would be at number four, I just said that he will be back in the team before you know it if he keeps scoring runs. The jury is still out on Hodge and who knows if they're going to keep going with the whole all-rounder idea.

You reckon Watson will be back in that soon? He was hardly cemented in the team, and a decent layoff through injury....he'll spend a bit in Pura Cup as well to get the body back to 100% and form up. Anyway, I thought he said he couldn't play cricket at all for 2 months right after he did the injury, so he'll be out for quite a while.

I don't think they are going to cut the all-rounder idea yet. They will give Watson time to develop his game at the top level. Watson should be back at the Bangladesh tour/just after the bangladesh tour which is in the mid year.

Hodge will score runs, and they will give him AT LEAST until the end of the summer to produce a big innings! Forget about him taking Symonds/Watson's spot, they will continue in pursuit of this all-rounder.

Yeah, that sounds more like it. I thought you were suggesting he'd be back after the three upcoming Tests against South Africa, but now I realise you're talking about the tour next year.

I think Australia has a good break after the South African series. We have the "pyjama" series against NZ in ODI'S, but I am not sure we play tests there. So by my accounts the next series is the Bangladesh series!

Haha, in that case, fair enough champ! I might need to have a look at the schedule then!

Ok I was almost right. We play tests against South Africa before bangladesh in march next year (16th-20th is the 1st). Watson will be fine for those.

This will make Clarke more hungry and when he gets back in, he will perform like Hussey and Hodge. He won't want to go into another form slump as he may never get in again or another Hussey and Hodge will come along and keep him out.

At 24 it is a lay down mazzaire he will have another slump probably more than one.
how big is the question and how will he perform in between.

Good point, everyone goes into a slump, I meant another slump like he just previously had before being dropped. Obviously that is the time frame Clarke has before hes dropped.

no you can't

you're not a selector

mate anyone can see that he is not a number 4. He was terrible against the Windies> imagine if he was playing a good side!
